Google Map, to compare the location, it is demolished for new road making a "pitcher" curve road. I believe that was terrible of the town to do that and destroyed this beautiful rink. You will notice on the left is IHOP Restaurant. Now compare that to the map when you check it and you will see the rink disappeared and a road go over it.
Star Roller Rink, 3820 S. Glenstone, Springfield, MO
Skateport, 3820 South Glenstone, Springfield, MO
Skateport King, 3820 South Glenstone, Springfield, MO
First was Star Roller Rink then it became Skateport. I do not have much information regarding both rinks and the owners at all.
The rink had White steel warehouse style building for exterior. I thought I saw a picture earlier today but I could not find it again. That is alright but if any of you have it, please let me know by sending me the picture. It became Tan colored exterior with some hint of Red here or there.
The rink itself was a nice Maple hardwood floor that is clear coated, urethrae coated. It had that diamond ball with starburst lights. Again, common. It had Dark Navy Blue for half walls and above it White. No Red. But very colorful disco lights above on ceiling.
The carpet itself was of course, Dark Navy Blue and for snackbar area, the tan color titles were zigzag format and quite noisy to roll on that floor. Standard fast food style laminated wood benches with Yellow tables. It sported the name Skateport on the side. Those I described were part of Skateport, but I need pictures of star Roller Rink.
The building has been demolished to make way for new road and then new Googie style architecture building for an ice cream stand and a common dentist office chain franchise.
