All courtesy of Stafford Skate Centre. I love how clean the snack bar layout is. And very interesting with the balcony there. Similar to the one in UK that just closed in 2021.
Four Square. Noticed blue thingy? That is the bleachers to watch skaters especially Roller Hockey. This is why you do not see any disco lights at this rink. Noticed that there isnt any photos I post with disco lights? That is because they do not have any.
Skate City 280 Stafford Road, Stafford, Brisbane, Queensland

Stafford Skate Centre 280 Stafford Road, Stafford, Brisbane, Queensland
Stafford Skate Centre 280 Stafford Road, Stafford, Brisbane, Queensland was another rink in the same month that all three rinks are closing in Australia within May after annoucing closures in April 2021. And two of them announced on same day (the other rink being District Skate) that they were forced out of leasing contract.
Before Stafford Skate Centre, it was called Skate City (A Yelper commented it).
It is sad. This apparently differ than most rinks are closing in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID. But those two-- Stafford Skate Centre and District Skate are forced out of leasing contract. Apparently landlord of those places are not having any patience that rinks are not making money due to shut down and limits of skaters skating due to COVID due to the international law (I discovered as I work on rinks, the COVID regulations are all the exact same within skating industry and everything else. Therefore it is international law ordered by UN and WHO. Sick.
The lease is terminated and the rink close in September 2021 when it is expired. The original building owner, Rob Carter told the rink owner, Scott Emerson that the new owner wanted the rink out because they found a tenant that will pay rent more. So similar to District Skate's problem. Both faced termination of leasing.
The Interior.
It was a very airy open space there with similar trusses as District Skate has. But only exposed trusses on ceiling, nothing on sides. Really high ceiling. And it has White walls with red letters words Skate Center on it. Supersized S and C that runs cross the word. Very similar to the Falso font my family owns. Look here.
It has beautiful Log Cabin layout non-paint Clear coated Polyurethane coated Maple floor.
What I love about this rink that it has second floor to look down to the rink. That was an old practice many rinks in late 19th Century and early 20th Century had for their rinks back the day. A balcony to look down. Perhaps of limitations of space, they had to built that but I never seen a photograph of anyone standing up there. I think they closed it off.
It sure does look like a school gym in there considering the floor, the balconies, and the feel to it. But no benches for fans to watch. Just half-wall rails around the rink dividing from the rentals, lockers, snack bar, and eating area.
Another feature I love is their snack bar. Really different. Very clean design looked as if it was the Automat, one time popular vending centers where you can pay each items you bought from the vending machine. The kitchen on one side and cooks insert into the slots and the customer likes that item, pays for that by slipping coins in and you open that one up and eat sandwiches or hots or cold and drinks. But this one is different at this rink.
It has a lot of refrigerator doors, all glass. They also have ice cream bin so you can open and get ice cream in a package. you seen them in some restaurants. It is sort of a mix between Automat and a standard snack bar. Very clean and WELL organized. I love it. Good in a very tight spot yet plenty of choices. Compare to other rinks in the US, the US rink snack bars are big but not seen as much compared to this one in Australia. Make you wonder, right? Also this one has nothing blocking like the American counterparts do with soda machines and what's not. I do not like that. Needs to be open. Like a Dunkin' Donuts would do. Open to view donuts and bagels for their customers. That kind of clean perspective. And sodas are refrigerated next to donuts on back wall, not blocking! Please think about moving to the back, owners.
I believe they have vents on the end walls to cool inside or keep it warm in evenings.
The Exterior.
It is a Gable roofed, Free-Span Steel Truss cinderblocks-Walled store front or a school gym - like Building. I love the way they designed on the outside. Red-White-Blue colors stripes with windows there making it looks 1950s-1970s. Like a grocery store of 1950s-70s would look like. I love the way they have the word SKATE N BLADE vertically on the front wall to explain it is a skating rink. Funny, it did not say the name of the rink but what the place is for.
