Both of Google Map. Noticed Skyline pretty much similar and almost no changes. Except they added another door and tiny tiny windows as well. And the new updated parking lot. All concrete parking lot as you can see and new entrance. They still have the side entrance though. And now there is a coffee shop drive-thru. The parking lot is a major improvement. You can tell the ground has no grass yet because they just did the parking lot in the 2012 photo. Likely it was done that year.
Skyline Skate 1404 Skyline Rd, Laramie, WY
This rink was named for the street, Skyline Road. And currently it has several businesses come and go in this much divided building after Skyline Skate rink closed.
Back then, it was Tan colored Free-standing Free span steel steel-walled Warehouse-like building. The rink was in operations sometimes in very late 20th Century till sometimes after 2007 but before 2012 according to Google Map history of both years. It had 2150 square feet facility but it did not seem to be that size according to one site. The building looks 12 to 15 thousand square feet. Not 2150 square feet. Again, more like 12,000 to 15,000 square feet. I believe the realtor or landlord made a mistake to say the size.
Unfortunately I do not have much information about this rink.
Interesting to note that the Skyline Skate was right next door to the Skyline Drive-In movie theater. I will discuss that here as well because it was part of entertainment section of that town. It was opened in August 1949 after it was built and closed in mid-1980s. It is now a storage facility. You can see in one of the pictures of the rink building with storage right next door.
Now both entertainment are gone. Drive-ins felt the same burnout as roller rinks and shopping malls and department stores. Please click on any of them to jump into reading history! Or go to Link page.
The drive-in had screens facing I-80. Practically down the highway from me (I am at the Crossroad of the North East 3 minutes from I-90 and I-81).
