Bottom two copyrighted courtesy of Pontiac Convention Center of Janesville, WI. The interior is a part of Pontiac Convention Center. That photo of a party set up was set as 1980s themed company party. Below photo is the floor plan of the Convention Center. The big main room on that floorplan was where the rink used to be. Likely the rest were expansion and renovation.
Skatin' Place, 2809 North Pontiac Dr, Janesville, WI
Skatin' Place was a rink in Janesville, WI and not much information online at all. I had to improvise. According to Realtor.com, it was sold for 1.16 Million USD. Quite expensive for a former skating rink at the time (sold in 2006). It was build in 1976, the US Bicentennial year. Likely the building was expended according to the floor plan I saw online (see photo) and current owner-the Pontiac Convention Center (PCC). Named after the street they are on: North Pontiac Drive.
It is so beautiful as PCC. Very modern building after renovations. Quite a bit of money was put into it quite clear. Also the investors who did the PCC renovations also did redo interior and may have expanded the frontage of the building by its look on the map. The interior I looked on PCC website showed 360 degrees view of its interior. It sure does feel like very modern church. Before the expansion, it was 18,900 SF building when it was sold to the PCC owners on August 25, 2006.
But the space inside where the rink used to be remains the same. you can tell with gabled ceiling with white ceiling panels, the walls with steel truss support on each side. Part of that current-as-ballroom has flat ceiling. That clearly was part of the original roller rink facility. Likely where the snackbar and admissions used to be.
Looks like they redid the floor entirely. I am not sure what the original floor was like unless someone tells me about it.
