Skatetown USA, Marshalltown, Iowa. Not much difference between 2007 and 2013 photo. I have no newer ones. This shows interesting in the 2007 photo that they have TWO main doors. The vehicles parked in the front of the brick walled part with windows and doors. The other is further behind the vehicles on the same side with an awning. It is missing in the 2013 photo. Apparently the rink closed after the 2007 photo was taken. Source: Google Map.
Skatetown USA, Marshalltown, Iowa. Three views of the same pencil. Good thing this owner of the pencil who send me did not go any further sharpening. Whew. It appeared old. Photos courtesy of J.G.
Skatetown USA 3102 South 6th St, Marshalltown, IA
This is another Skatetown! That is correct, Skatetown USA. This one, although was in Marshalltown, Iowa and I have conflicting reports I checked online. It is confusing. One says it was registered in 2004. The Google Map says nothing about the rink in 2007 and 2013. Also the Assessment I found on first page of Gogoduck it says nothing about the rink except it was up for sale in 2012.. that one matched to someone said that in Facebook fan page on Skatetown (Marshalltown) and maybe it is but the address I got here was wrong. I got this rink's address from one of my main source of lists or rinks. Apparently 3102 is not correct address. It is 3110. Has to be. Or 3111.
Then with Google Map, I have no idea after I have seen on Assessment. This is one of most confusing skating rink I ever heard with all sources pointing different things and are not matching up. Even further more, the photo of the rink in Facebook group was showing 1970s/1980s appearance at the rink. That is only other evidence I can verify the date. Apparently may have opened in 1970s and closed as late as mid-2000s.
I did not have photos of the rink from the FB group because they had people in it and bit blurred/hard to see. But as I did this page update to add the pencils in May 2021, that group is gone. I attempted to find it. Anyway, if you have photos, please let me know and I will add them. Please be clear and no people if possible.
I also will need exact dates of opening and closing. Why they closed? Who owned it?
What really touched me further is a Facebook member asking why there should be a group page for Skateland (Marshalltown) on Facebook for. I kindly replied why because no fans ever replied to her why. She posted it in I believe in 2012 and I just answered her question on March 25, 2020. Go figure.
I cannot figure which building because it was owned by same owner for both address.. two similar designed and color buildings and I will wait till I get confirmation on which one from fans.
