Google Map. This was how it looked long after it was closed. No sign, no names. Nothing. But the large 99 was so easy to see! This was taken in 2014 when the county where Ashland City was considering to purchase. But they voted down in 2015.
Skateland 99 Brookhollow Dr. Ashland City, TN
The Skating Rink 99 Brookhollow Dr. Ashland City, TN
The Skating Rink 99 Brookhollow Dr. Ashland City, TN
This rink, both Skateland and the Skating Rink were held at 99 Brookhollow Drive in Ashland City, TN. The building sits in a nice quiet area surrounding trees just a couple of hundreds of feet from busy commercial area.
Not much information but Rink-Time has The Skating Rink opened in 1997 but Manta explained that they were established in 2001. A conflict here. I believe it was Skateland in 1997 followed by The Skating Rink in 2001. But I do not have all sources here. However, Zillow has this building built in 1970. Confusion confusion confusion. (A play on real estate's famous 3 words- Location, location, location.)
One thing though, in 2014 the county where the rink was in was considering to purchase the former rink building and convert into storage for police vehicles, seized vehicles, and records but the cost of the building to purchase was 188,000 USD and they only have a budget of 220,000 USD. It would cost them to add 25,000 USD for a fence and do roof repairs/replacement with the cost of 15,000 USD. the committee voted down 10-1 saying that the building is too old and they need a newer place. The sheriff wanted that place badly. But I am sure now they have another place. This was from The Tennessean.
Instead, it was sold to a Christian Church, Unity Covenant Church, a Southern Baptist Church.
With your help, you can help fill the gap. And correct age of business such as establishment and closure.
The Interior.
12,580 Square Feet building. Floor for the rink is unknown. Other information and no photo available to describe. Sorry.
The Exterior.
The exterior which remained the same as it was when it was a rink (take your pick) all White. Surrounded with trees and bushes. The land is lower than the road. This way you can see the entire place from higher view.
Currently has a huge sign 99 which stands for the street number, 99 Brookhollow Drive. The sign really made it so easy for people to see and find it. I love that. Because I always have hard time to find houses or businesses when I am driving to. I can not even seen house numbers so small! Sure, mailboxes but not always shown. I worked on a route and I know. How can I know what number? I was trained with a rural carrier associate and she said you just have to know. Where is the number? They have a GPS locater and they can help you with that. And yes, they do track you! Anyway, This was easy to find if anyone wanted to find this place.
