Skateland Skate Center/Skate City 3302 Interstate Blvd South, Fargo, ND. Originally in Brown, Tan with Red fonts. Very 1980s colors. The sign was in red though. Neon lights. Source: Way Marking.

Skateland Skate Center/Skate City 3302 Interstate Blvd South, Fargo, ND. Wide-eyed len photo of the rink viewed from spectator area. Dark Green on walls. This gave 1980s feel. Both interior and exterior truly 1980s fad. Good ol' 80s! Noticed it does feel like a restaurant with a dance floor. The warmth of walls, the pendent lights, and the server station right in middle of photo by the rails and two trash cans. Noticed that? Source: Skateland Skate Center Facebook.
Skateland Skate Center/Skate City 3302 Interstate Blvd South, Fargo, ND. This is the now look. Pretty much similar to the original Skateland. The differences? Observe where the area for fans, server station is missing, and look on the left wall. Pretty much less "clutter" as well as look on the right side, the murals have changed. Source: Skate City.
Skateland Skate Center/Skate City 3302 Interstate Blvd South, Fargo, ND. This showed in happier times. Notice mural is quite different than Skate City. It is more visualized than the new ones because of strong pop colors. Love those Chinese Lantern pendents on the ceiling. Source: Skateland Skate Center, Fargo, ND Facebook.
Skateland Skate Center/Skate City 3302 Interstate Blvd South, Fargo, ND. Notice the rail? It is curved. Was it originally larger rink and they downsized adding more seating? Another thing, it is hard to walk the step when you have skates on!
You noticed the step. Many skaters may have to walk by the half-wall to do step up to go to snack bar or restrooms. Observe the photo and you will understand. That is an 6 to 8 inch step. Source: Skateland Skate Center Facebook.

Skateland Skate Center/Skate City 3302 Interstate Blvd South, Fargo, ND. This is a Skateland employee photo from late 1981 (I’m in the back row - third man from the right -T.R. Post). Wow, very neat! Everyone back in late 1970s and early 1980s wore ties and suits. Further back at older rinks, the staff wore suits and hat. Now, I see they are dressed like they are not in uniforms (at least rinks I went to). Source: T.R. Post.

This was a rink in Fargo, ND that was in operations before it became Skate City, a franchise all around country but it was a mom-and-pop owned rink at the time.
It was founded in 1976 --the American Revolution Bicentiennal Celebration year. I researched and it said 1991 but that was wrong and I received an email from a guy who worked at the rink said it was opened in 1976. So, that is corrected now.
From what I saw in photos, it looked pretty busy for Skateland but I have no idea why it was sold to Skate City company that buys rinks and renamed them as Skate City franchise.
It was sold in January 2016 to Skate City company. Pretty much the interior appeared the same as Skateland if you were to look at Skate City.
UPDATE! -- 26 March 2022.
I received an email from a T.R.P. Here is what he has to say--
It actually opened in 1976.
Interior:
Pretty much the interior appeared the same as Skateland if you were to look at Skate City. It has much darkness on walls but colorful carpets, Red dinettes as well as Yellow dinettes, Steel rails.
The interesting part was the layout of floor design. There was a step up snack bar and step down to the level of the rink for skaters to enjoy seeing the skaters on the floor. It was designated as spectator area for parents watching children skate or for roller derby flat track team compete. It was a genius design that no other rinks has. It is set on the end of the rink between the rink and the snack bar. Usually all full of plastic/metal picnic tables.
They had a huge movie-theater style screen (unfortunately it was not theater wide format screen but a Television format.) for their announcements, music videos, and/or showing skaters they are skating. That was a drawback that I would love to see they actually had a theater-wide format like you seen your favorite movies on.
On that end with the screen, it was wall to wall and floor to ceiling carpet the same on the floor. It was featuring neon carpeting that was made for roller rinks. Apparently it was all over the floor as well except for the rink which was Maple hardwood. The rink had two lines-one for figure skating and the other was for roller derby.
This facility also had unique 1950s style Chinese Lantern lights. Several colors of course. I could not find online specific that name of the type of lights. I see hundreds of them on Google Image search. But no avail. Just pictures of rinks with those lights. They are unique. And I like the design for the rink with those colorful lights.
What more interesting was the pendent lamps above picnic tables in the snack bar area. It does give more a feel of a night club/restaurant with a rink instead of dance floor. Since it is operating as Skate City, this is the rink I would check out if I were you and for myself a trip out there if possible er, WHEN possible!
They have seating along the side of the rink--just benches and the rink itself has no half-walls along the rink. Oddly, there is but a brief one between the spectator stands and the snackbar. One of the photos above will tell you that.
It included games, skate rental, and more.
