Skateland 9 Pittsburgh Ave, Mount Vernon, OH. Taken in 2012. Taken before demolished and they expanded the park with mounds. This rink was built awfully close to the roads there. Both front and side. Source: Google.
Skateland 9 Pittsburgh Ave, Mount Vernon, OH. Taken in 2018. It is no longer a rink there and they expanded the park with mounts and ground art work of a tree nearby. It feels odd about this park. Very different. Anyway, they made into mounts to try to be like the mysterious ages old Serpent Mounds. If you were to check that address, zoom out on top view of former rink location, you will see those mounds nearby and where the former rink is. You can do street level too and pan left-right whatever you do and you will see those mounds. Quite interesting in folklore and ancient mysteries. Hey Ancient Aliens' Conspiracy Theorists, no, it is not a UFO did this! The Serpent.. has to be done by people and for this one shown above, proved it in modern day that the landscape architect designed this AFTER the rink building was demolished. Done and done! One thing though, the sidewalk was a bad job because it was set it straight or smooth curve. Source: Google.
Skateland 9 Pittsburgh Ave, Mount Vernon, OH
Skateland was at 9 Pittsburgh Avenue in Mount Vernon, Ohio. One of many Skateland rinks but to each its own. This one began in 1984 (Rink Time) or 1987 (Manta). This rink ran for a time and no longer in business. I have no dates of closure. They may have closed after 2012 but before 2018 when the next round of photographs were taken showing the buildings on that street were demolished to expand the mounds park as I would nickname it. Check Google Map top view.
So, which year is the actual year of opening? They opened during the downturn of roller skating at the time. I need a lot of information for the stats below so please review below and let me know. Thank you.
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
As only photo I could find so far, the Google Map showed me that the rink building was a Sky Blue colored Steel Walled, Free-Span Warehouse - like Building with Gable roof.
It was built literally by the edge of the road. If the rink was opened in 1980s, then it was likely was built at the time because of the appearance of the building I can tell it looked like it was built around at the time.
