Skateland 1386 Highway 190, Eunice, LA
Skateland was one of two rinks in Eunice, Louisiana but this one was at 1386 Highway 190, Eunice, Louisiana. They opened in 2001 but apparently short lived because it became an archery store and range. According to Realtor.com, it said that the last time it was sold was on May 22, 2013. UPDATE: I got confirmation it was sold in 2013 which is correct. But the couple who built this rink sold it because they were tired and wanted retirement. It did NOT go out of business. Eventually it did.
The owners was Mike Neucere. He built in 1976 and then sold the rink. Some of the links shown are wrong due to the year. I have the confirmation from someone whose parent is Mike.
It was a rink before it became an archery store and indoor range. However, that nice fully stocked archery store and range also has permanently closed as of July 24, 2020. They were going out of business since February and Covid lockdown lengthened the going-out-of-business sale.
I do not know why the archery is going out of business.
The building is up for sale at the nice price of 398,000 USD. Remember, this is a small rink building of 12,250 Square Feet. Likely rink was perhaps 8,000 to 10,000 SF itself.
The Interior.
N/A. But for the archery, they have most of the floor as retail as they have 2 ranges. One with paper targets and the other with fake animals and big white foam boards. Very western feel in the store as well as exterior.
The Exterior.
I believe Skateland originally had no western look on front. I believe it was the archery store had added the Wild-West theme store front with wood planks deck, posts, and canopy with Old Wild West store front look.
Originally were all Brick in front half of the building with Red Steel metal and the rest were in Sky Blue Steel metal. Kind of like half warehouse, half storefront to the feel.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: N/A. Floor Layout: N/A.
Building Size: 12,250 SF. Built: 1976. Demolished: Still standing.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Sky Blue Steel-Walled 1/2 warehouse and Red Brick Storefront-like Building.
Roof: Gable.
Acres: 4.88 acres. Other sites say .87 acre. Which is which?
Operated: 2001 to beyond 2013.
Reason for Closure:
Under the Manual Family: Retirement.
Final owner: Unknown.
(Eunice Archery): Unknown.
Wanted: Information regarding photos, dates of open and closed and why closed? Who owned it, was there another rink before Skateland? Anything and everything! Size of rink floor and what material? Actual property size.
