Both courtesy of Google Map. Top to bottom: November 2013 and July 2019. Ah, beautiful day very summerlike in December 2013! Compared to the bottom which looked very gloomy. Even worse was the 2008 that I did not include because it was very blurred, dark, gloomy which almost night time I believe when the mapper drove by. Yes, the 2008 showed it was abandoned too. I was about correct how bad it became as you can see in the photos. The 2013 showed kateland and then 2019 showed atel nd. Slowly letters fall off. Does anyone grab them when they fall? I am not sure and I do not see any on the ground. I am sure when it falls, it cracks and break like a glass. The 2008 which is barely seen has all the letters on the roof.

Skateland was one of the two rinks in Hueytown and this one was located at 3270 Allison-Bonnett Memorial Drive, Hueytown, AL. Although according to Google Map, the address is just next door! Really weird how the address works. You will see on the map.
So, let you know that this is true address and only rink, not two right next to each other. Rarely a same name brand store would do that. I know of a gas station that had same name as the one right cross the street. Both were the same but the 2nd one went out of business and became a new gas station and convenience store. A C-store.
Well, not a chance with a skating rink. One and the same.
3296 Warrior River Rd., Hueytown, AL is the actual address but the map showed wrong location for the pin, it is located according to the map as 3270 Allison-Bonnett Memorial Drive, Hueytown, AL.
The Uptons owned and operated the rink. Brenda and Jerome Upton owned since they filed on November 12, 1980. Likely previous owner owned since 1973.
The Interior.
N/A. Likely had Maple but not sure because in 1970s many new rinks opened with Maple floor but also concrete were increasing new concept.
The Exterior.
Only I could find is on Google Map that this place was abandoned for a long time. The letters for the name are missing and decay is showing. Apparently natural elements such as weather, sun, and nature are reclaiming slowly. The photos on Google Map was taken in June 2019. Also rust rained down on the aluminum roof siding. This should show this place at least closed about 20 years. I am sure it was beautiful Earth Tone look of the 1970s (made sense because it was opened in 1973). It has Brown Brick bricks on the wall and Brown siding. Looks pretty low hung design which was common from 1960s to 1980. (Remember the Howard Johnson's restaurants?) What I like the design is that it gave that trendy color of its day that the 1960s since 1965 to the 1970s and even 1980s brown colors and Earth-Tone colors were the in-vogue back then. That was because of Lady Bird Johnson complained about Googie Architecture and wanted everyone get to Earth Tone but not only that, it was the era of hippies, tree-huggers, etc wanted things to be that way. This is why this building was designed this way. Bricks were popular in 1970s and 1980s. Before that, it was stones and flatstones which returned back in 1990s and 2000s. Now we are back with Googies. Will Art Deco make come back by 2030s? Never know.
It was pretty hidden spot behind another commercial building (mini-shopping plaza) in front of it which is closer to the road. Apparently the big sign by the road has been taken down back then. Likely.
If still standing, this is a good location to see the abandoned building but we advise do NOT enter. Disclaimer, we are not responsible for anything you have done illegally since it is a private property and no trespassing. You can see the buildng from outside but you cannot enter.
