Yes, they had a roller rink at one time at Skate Zone of Ocean Springs. September 29, 2005 was the date they opened at 2226 Bienville Boulevard, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Dean Lepoma founded and operated this rink.
It is currently as In the Zone of Ocean Springs but it is not a roller rink anymore. They renovated the place with a price of 2.5 Million USD to expand the facility. I do not know how many square foot it was originally and they expanded into a new larger facility.
Originally it was in a shopping plaza as seen on Google Map. But they moved away as their purpose is to now focus on day care instead of roller skating. The plaza has other finesses that it was perfectly made for. A fitness center and a dance studio. That was the address at 2226 Bienville Boulevard, Ocean Springs, Mississippi however, their new facility with the expansion occurred recently. It is now at 3614 Bienville Boulevard, Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Because of the expansion, new facility and larger, it would not make any sense to show on here that new campus. It is beautiful. Very modern office like building for a day care? No playful looking place? No, look more like an office or even a super small school.
It is now called, Smart Beginnings, another pre-school/day care.
It was built in 1974 and the way the exterior look at this plaza where the doors were and the bunch of windows in that foyer area looked like a department store or something.
UPDATE! -- 13 April 2022.
I recevied an email from a Becky who explained about this rink and a few other rinks. This paragraph she wrote explains about Skate Zone. Here is what she has to say --
Skate Zone/In The Zone in Ocean Springs was originally a National Grocery Store, known as National Supermarkets chain, based out of New Orleans. I shopped there as a kid in the 70's and 80's. Skate Zone was allowing a non-denominational church, MOSAIC to meet there on Sundays and the church members were affectionately called Holy Rollers. When Mosaic got on their feet, they moved to another old storefront just to the west of Skate Zone/In The Zone, which oddly enough had been Royal Family Recreation skating rink in the 80's. Before Royal Family Recreation, that storefront over different periods contained a Fred's discount store, A&P grocery store, a furniture store, a real estate office, Bonnie & Clyde's nightclub.
In the Zone built a new rink to the east and still operates as a rink only for the students. They also put a facility in Saint Martin.
Wow, a lot of information, thank you so much Becky! Really helpful! And thank you for the rest of the info you send in the email, Becky.
Haha, Bonnie & Clyde's? Did they survived and lived this long to start this night club? Haha. No, verified they are dead long ago.
The Interior.
Original location, I do not know what it was like but the new facility they just opened up was at a different location although it has that roller rink floor but it was not a roller rink at the new place.
The Exterior.
Originally the Skate Zone and the In The Zone both were housed on the longer and more spacious side, they had the Skate Zone. The whole architectural design looked and smell like it was a Free-Span Columns Steel Trusses Cinderblocks-Walled Shopping Plaza - like Building. The exterior design where the doors were and the windows showed me that this location was either a G-store or a D-Store especially a discounter).
