Skate Way Roller Rink and the rink before that, Skate Lodge were located at 4646 Buffalo Road, Erie, Pennsylvania. Skate Lodge first opened in 1978 but they closed in 1986 to become Skate Way Roller Rink.
Skate Way was established in 1986 by Pat Artise who was the operator of the rink. Google Map showed big changes every other year at that site. The rink was closed around between 2015 and 2017 because Google Map showed every other year. On the map it showed 2015 having the rink there but 2017, no longer and it's replacement was a night club.
Currently, a nightclub, a Chinese buffet, and a fitness center. That kind of combination is bit odd if you get my meaning here.
My gut feeling that the rink was in its entire building. It may have reduced in size because of my observation of the size and renovation of the building. I hope I am not wrong but if I am, please correct me.
The building I am seeing on the map is awesome looking. Very modern.
I do see it is up for sale. It said it can be returned back to a roller rink. Well, you now have a rink you can buy! Go ahead and give them a call!
Pennsylvania Corporate website said they were established on Monday, 06 July 1981. Sometimes business become incorporate AFTER it was established by opening doors. OR it was new operator. I would lean toward 1978.
The Interior.
Skate Lodge: Unknown.
Skate Way Roller Rink: Unknown. Not a whole lot. Only one photo surfaced online showing it has Maple wood floor, unpainted or non-colored. It does look like it had a protection.
The light tubes around the rink where the center would be. With this picture which was actually small and many skaters, it was hard to tell. Anyone who was there has photos, please share. Thank you. Hard to tell the colors on the wall. I see it was two colors. Open ceiling exposing beams.
The photo also showed it had a garage door open. It does look like a garage door, was it? It was possible.
The Exterior.
It is a Gabled roof, Free-Span Steel Trusses Steel - Walled Warehouse - like Building. The current color of the walls are Maroon. The front, however, is quite modern remodeled. The Chinese buffet restaurant section is quite modern to compare to the other part of the building where the rink was. Was the Buffet restaurant section of the building built AFTER the rink closed in 1986?

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
