Google Map. This was taken in 2008. Perhaps closed much earlier than that thanks to seeing this picture of a garage door and a few parked tractor trailers.
Skate Station 1626 County Road 9 Vernon, AL
Skate Station was a rink at 1626 County Road 9 Vernon, AL which was out in the countryside. Not much to say as I tried to find information. Anyone know about this rink? Only I find on Yelp it said they are closed. Currently it is mental health services for the state and child protection services.
The Interior.
N/A
The Exterior.
It sports a Lighter side Dark Blue-ish with White dashes on roof trim and entirely Blue on canopy. The canopy appeared similar to many of the rinks in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. This was standard for its look. Perhaps way back to the Skate Country of Arizona with the design. (Similar to Carousel, Sparkles, Starlite, etc). The Red part you see in the photo might be the Deep Red Bricks. This could date back to 1980s with that look. But unknown when it was built and unknown when it was opened for the rink. Closure.. likely 2000s. Garage door was added after they closed thanks to the picture.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: N/A. Floor Layout: N/A.
Building Size: N/A. Built: N/A. Demolished: Still standing. Now government offices.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled and Bricks Grocery store-look Building.
Roof: Gable.
Acres: N/A.
Operated: N/A.
Reason for Closure: N/A.
Wanted: Information regarding everything and photos. Anyone know about this rink?
Anyone has pictures and/or information please let me know at [email protected]. Thank you.
