Photos courtesy of Greg Ross/Manic Merc and Ken. Those photos shown are from a realtor who took rather grainy pictures of interior and the better exterior picture of the rink long after it closed. This was at Green Hills Plaza. Currently in 2019, they are leased and remodeled for a fitness club. Greg and Ken emailed me the photos after I met Greg at a business trade show in area.
Photos courtesy of Dan Gratien. Much better photos of the rink as seen today. Noticed a lot of familiar Looney Tunes cartoon characters skating with inline skates. Poor Slyester the Cat fell down and all dazed. Good thing its not Tweety Bird dancing around his head.! Haha. And don't let me start with Daffy Duck. He looks like he is trying to speed skate! Hahaha. Notice two cars parked on the rink covered. Half wall was cut in half. They even had carpetiles which was pretty new concept back the day when this rink was opened. I wish I spend more time skating at this rink but unfortunately I did not and went to Sports-O-Rama because I was closer to that rink.
The birthday party area had Disney characters.

Rest Looney Tunes are © of Warner Brothers

Skate-N-Place, Green Hills Plaza, 5957 South Salina Street, Nedrow, NY
This rink was a relocation for the Skate-N-Place that was once held on West Genesee Street in Westvale, a hamlet of Syracuse, NY. It was rather basic design. White walls, rink, and front and right side of walking area with snack bar, restrooms, and skate rentals. Quite small size compared to standard rinks like Sports and the old Empire Skates (take your pick which rink).
Not much information since I went there once and it was crowded for a very small rink. It was hard on turning on this rather narrow rink like it had at Westvale.
It was owned by 2 families with speed skaters. This was their relocation for the Westvale rink to Green Hills Plaza. Mrs. Gratien managed the rink.
The rink opened immediately after the Westvale location closed and this rink has long since closed in around likely year 2000. Maybe sometimes in 1990s. I need more information and needs photos if possible.
UPDATE: Now that location has converted and remodeled into a fitness club.
Rink Size: (13000 SF) Floor: Mostly Hickory (RARE!). Floor Layout: Standard, poles in center.
Building Size: N/A
Operated: N/A
Reason for Closure: N/A
Wanted: Information regarding open and closure dates and why closed? Photos of both Skate-N-Place rinks.
