Skate-Mor Roller Skating Rink 3356 State Route 208, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania is now an Amish gift shop, The Cheese House. However, before that shop, it was a rink with 80 Feet by 160 Feet sized Hardwood Maple floor with Polyurethane Coat surface. It is a deep D-shaped Segmental Arch roof with two sides of Salt-Box sections that make it appear like an Omega Ω shape roofline.
Wayne and Elaine Barber were the owners of Skate-Mor.
The skating rink first opened for business on the weekend of Friday and Saturday, 28 to 29 of December 1962, and became a very popular hangout for local kids through the years. It was the scene of many weekend and holiday skates and often hosted church outings, local Boy & Girl Scouts, and public school trips. It was closed in late December 1988 and sold to Jim Marti, who owned the nearby business called the Cheese House. Marti operated a mini-golf course called Fribbles, complete with an arcade and pool tables, in the facility for a few years. By the summer of 1991 he had shut down the mini-golf and relocated his Cheese House in the large building. The thriving Cheese House, a specialty food store and gift shop, still occupies the location today and it is also an online specialty food website. They can send anywhere in the US through USPS. They are very similar to Hickory Farm. What I saw on their website. Makes me want to order some!
