Both of Google Map. First in 2014, bottom is in 2018. Ah, the 2018 photo showed perfect timing to catch TWO cars there and a mower!? Must be they still own it but not up for sale (did not see any sign at all) but they are still upkepting the grounds. Hmm.. Will they be back? Also noticed newly paved too? Nice!
Skate Factory, 1131 State Route 9h, Ghent, NY
Skate Factory Extreme (aka SFX), 1131 State Route 9h, Ghent, NY
Skate Factory is not be related to the ones in Florida. Yes, a few in Florida with that gator as their mascot. That is a different one. Anyway, Skate Factory was in New York State near Catskill on the East side of the Hudson River. And only one left in Columbia County. They opened in 1997 and they closed for good on or around Apr 9, 2011. (Likely before that due to the newspaper printed that article that day).
Mary Ann Gazzola and her husband, Steve had the rink built up taking Steve and workers built in 8 months completely in 1992 and opened the rink. It was a Free Span Steel Walled Warehouse Building that a corner faced the street. The area look beautiful countryside mostly trees and grass fields away from populated area. Just a short distance though.
I do not have photos of interior though. They closed in April 2011.
They also added a skate park for skateboards and roller skaters to use wavy floors on the side of the rink. A rare concept should have caught on. This section they called it Skate Factory Extreme. This part is also closed in 2011. I have no idea when they first opened the Extreme section.
