TBA 33 Old Gadsden Hwy, Anniston, AL (Back in business!)
Skate Country at 33 Old Gadsden Highway in Anniston, Alabama was a rink for a time since 1975 and was closed for good. It was up for sale on September 21, 2015 but listing was off market in February 17, 2016 so likely that was when they closed and sold for good.
That was in 2016 but according to AL.com, it says they are still open and it was dated on May 12, 2019 That is quite strange considering Google saying they are permanently closed and the photos showed proof that fact they are closed with teenagers holding hands looking at the sign on the building as it was a memorial service would do. That would be best photo to represent Dead Rinks, would you agree? See photo on top.
UPDATE:
Skate Country did close and only open for private parties until 2019. This was before COVID but that person told me they spoke with someone in the video about Skate Country that they are planning on re-opening in 2021-- This year.
I looked for any articles online their announcement. Must be a low-key reopening. I am not sure if they will keep same name or changed. This will stay on because this rink closed in 2017 with private parties till 2019.
Facebook showed that they are gone too. So, our best opinion is that they are permanently closed. Someone must have written something on AL.com that they are in business which is not.
UPDATE! -- (28 December 2021)
Guess what Skaters of Anniston, Alabama! They are back coming in 2022! I got report that they will be reopened! Good times are rolling again! They have not decided to name the rink yet. But skaters, keep your eyes open in the news such as your online news, Facebook, and of course, the radio! When you hear about it or you read this, please tell everyone to keep eyes out and they will return! This is third of fourth rink that closed permanently and abandoned has rise again like a phoenix.
This is fantastic news for you folks!
UPDATED!
It has been reopened since 24 April 2022. Congratulations to 7 Ministries and Skate Country for reopening the rink! While this site focus on dead roller rinks, this profile focus ON PREVIOUS rink, this is a rebooted and you will find this also on ACTIVE rink page. Check it out and find your rink nearest you to skate!
Both the interior and the exterior features of this rink is so strikely similar to Carousel Center that they may have been under the same ownership at one time that this rink may have been called Carousel Center- Anniston. However, I did not find that on any 4 lists I depends on lists of rinks. When I find out, then that name will be listed.
After closed in 2017 and phone number disconnected. A skater on Facebook said in 2016 that they were still open only to private parties. It was a private party venue with skating in 2017 and perhaps right up to 2019 when it was up for sale again.
They even had an evening session not like any other rinks. They had Karaoke night! Yes, skaters can sing a song! Pretty neat idea! The sign misspelled that word: Karaoki. It sounds the same but spells with the e.
Side note, if you use Google Map to see this rink, you can but please pan to the left of the rink cross the street (narrow road by the rink), see this poor dog sitting outside in March 2014 chained to the corner of this red building away from the front door. Then see it again in the June 2014 photo. That one with the dog house. And sitting in exact same spot as he was in March! Poor dog! He is no longer in 2019 photo. Newly painted building there. Apparently gone out of business or something. Click to see the dog. Sure was hot out in this one! (rink is to the right directly where the dog was eyeing toward to).
I want to congratulate the 7 Springs Ministries for their effort to reopen this former rink in this rough times in 2020s. Congratulations and you will be successful! And God bless you and your ministry!
The Interior.
Skate Country: It is pretty much redness there. Reminded me of other rinks with this redness and spider-style starburst lights. That would be clearly similar to the Carousel Center in Huntsville, Alabama rink. May have been same owner at one time or a copycat.
The walls were Hideous Red and Concrete blocks half walls with D- arched on top of the rails painted in Pitch Black.
REBOOTED Skate Country: They totally renovated inside with much clean and modern feel to the rink. I have sneak preview before the general public saw this rink! It is NEAT! I mean it feel more spacious than the old hideous Redness inside the rink which gave claustrophobia for some. This time, it feels larger, more space feel and lightness by painting the wall SNOW WHITE! I am glad they painted it white instead of that Heavy Red color they had inside. The new carpet were placed on the wall wrapped around the rink and eating area. But also the same carpet on the rails.
However, the floor remains Dark Gray. I can understand due to cost can limits how much carpet ordering. But that is fine, gray hides spills. This is an A+ attractiveness as I saw. I highly recommend you skaters to skate there during 2022 and beyond.
The Exterior.
Skate Country: The exterior is standard Gabled roofed Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse-like Building. However, the front of the building had slightly different appearance and it did reminded me of a design similar to a rink in Georgia that was their first of the series of rinks a family owned which later became known as Sparkles, Stardust, etc.
It may have been windows on both side on the front door on the wall but it looked like it was replaced by a wall. And the main door has that look similar to the Carousel Center. the interior and exterior entrance are strongly reassembled to the Carousel rink they owned. It may have been under same ownership.
REBOOTED Skate Country: It is pretty much similar to the original. Not much. Perhaps new paint?

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
