Skate Country, 4390 Dodge St, Dubuque, IA (under original Skate Country, Inc of AZ)
Note, Skate Country IS STILL operational under different management!
This rink was originally operated under the original and true Skate Country, Inc of Tucson, AZ. But they sold the rink in 1986 to the management of that same rink and kept the name but changed the logo to that swift font. Apparently similar logo to that new management Skate Country group owns.
Originally, it was operated till 1986. Likely opened in the 1970s. It was a Gabled roof building version because the photos showed the ceiling. This is quite different than the standard Lockhard's owned blueprints. It appeared bigger than the original small size. Remember, the new one is a relocated site!
But I received information, it was 999 SF. Likely bigger. Unknown. However, it was White Urethane coated Concrete floor. Likely original was flat roofed. However the photo showing the current owner has bigger rink, and Gable roof as I said before. Google Map explains that.
It was on 2 acres. That is all I have for the rink. No original photos. Just a couple of photos of current rink. it is still operational today but not the same company! A different Skate Country!
The evidence of old building is still there but this furniture store has renovated the old rink into a very modern looking building. New exterior walls, new curved corner, and added the warehouse right by the rear-side of the building. Nice looking! Wish a rink would have that look! Its current design really can make it appeared perfect because roller wheels are rounded and that corner. Oh you get it.
The new Skate Country building after the buy out looks very churchy building on the outside. At first I thought it was a church or something but I found the sign that says Skate Country. And yes, in that original Skate Country red sginage.
