Skate Connection of Boardman 7080 Tiffany Boulevard, Youngstown, OH. As Youngstown Skate. Beautiful architecture design. Basic but unique design. It is a must see rink. Those two are the same owner/operators and they are proper kind of businesses as connected to the rink. One is a candy store and the other is an ice cream shop. Giannios Candy and Softee Cones. Only the ice cream place has windows and they are tinted. Taken in 2019. Source: Google.
Skate Connection of Boardman 7080 Tiffany Boulevard, Youngstown, OH. As Youngstown Skate. Beautiful floor! And the interior too! Well clean interior design. No crazy colors. All neutral here. This could double as a wedding venue and convention center (and they are a wedding and conference venue) Just like the exterior, interior has it done well. I love look. Before Youngtown Skate, there was Skate Connection of Boardman at 7080 Tiffany Boulevard in Youngstown, OH. It was opened in 1982 when the building was built as Skate Connection of Boardman. To some of you especially living outside of Ohio, the name Boardman is actually Boardman, Ohio according to its website. It is the one and the same as Youngstown. Many of your towns are like that and the mailing address, etc.
In my case to explain this. I live in Liverpool, NY and my mailing address says Liverpool, NY but I live in Galeville, NY, a hamlet of Liverpool, NY in Town of Salina. Another example. People would say they live in New York City. But maybe one would say they are in Brooklyn and further down. say, Coney Island, NY. Get my drift?
Likely Skate Connection of Boardman was opened in 1982. Youngstown Skate.. According to Dun & Bradstreet, it was 2009 they were registered and opened. That places Skate Connection of Boardman closed in 2009.
Nicholas Giannios operates Youngstown Skate. He is the same one who operates the Giannios Candy (and likely Softee Cones ice cream shop).
The Interior.
It has a beautiful Non-painted, Ultra-Clear Roll On, Hardwood Maple in Log Cabin layout for the size 85 Feet wide by 185 Feet long. It is light colored wood almost raw wood. I love that floor because I like the color of it. It may have been new.
The Exterior.
This exterior is one of the most beautiful design I ever seen online. This rink I must make as a bucket list for my travel around when the prices of gas get back to 2 Dollars or less per gallon, This is beautiful. Brown Bricks with Sand Steel wall. The bricks curves on the front side and the right side side. it reminded me of a rink out in mid-west with this design. That mid-west rink did go out of business but it reopened as a new rink and painted the wall Red. When i find it, I will add link to it. Very similar in design. Yes, both have those stucco walls and Bricks. Was Skate Connection of Boardman had any connection to that mid-west rink? Or someone just took that design and used for his own rink? Remember that many prospective rink operators visit other operating rinks in the area or another town, city, or even state and brought ideas into their rinks.
That concept I gave may be correct in this case-- the operators would visit and take ideas. Hey, you seen how similar now all fast food chains? Flat screen televisions, cellphones, airplanes? Even automobiles, boats, and recreational vehicles. You get the idea.
This is one of the best design I ever seen. Really. This is a must see for you.
Plenty of parking.
They have two small businesses as tenants to the rink and one is a candy store and the other is an ice cream shop. Those two small businesses are correct type of businesses for the rink because it is connected. Do they have doors to go into the candy store and ice cream shop from the rink? It would be awesome if they do. If not, that is too bad. It would be great to have that access. They are onto something that I am going to do drawings when I can on my drafting table to have restaurants connecting both from the interior (rink) and the exterior. And those restaurants open even during the day when there is no skating sessions. Be patient! I already thought of that concept and they beat me to it with those restaurants. This is why I highly recommend this rink.
