Skate City 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, FL. Cute but.. I hoped they did not have their little children with skates on top of the car for a ride through the parade like that! Oh shut up, Dr. Smith (original Lost In Space)! He was going to say, "Oh the humanity! The pain. The pain." Haha. The car is a BMW Isetta! Source: Skate City group on Facebook.

Yes, there were two different kind of tracks on this road, Dog Track Road. A roller rink and a dog racing track. Two entirely different tracks actually. Skate City and Starlite Skate Rink were housed on 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, Florida. First it was Skate City followed by Starlite Skate Rink. Now it is a church, Northland Church.
The Starlite Skate Rink but everyone knew as Skate City closed in the 1970s according to Northland Church website history page. It did not say exactly that but it sounded that way because of the rink was closed and abandoned according to the article. The church finally bought it in June 1984.
Finally in 2010s, the Northland Church named the location The Rink.
UPDATE! -- 22 June 2022.
I got an email from Northland Church. Thank you and God bless you Northland Church. Here is what they have to say --
We think it closed in 1978, but we are not positive. We think it had been closed for 4-5 years, so between 78 and 79. It was built in 1959.
It was Terrazzo, on top of that it was a pigmented wax. We don’t know what it was when it was first built. The floor looked blue from the pigmented wax. The carpet had the images of skates and disco images around the perimeter.
Currently the building serves as our Student Ministry space with other groups, gatherings, and Bible Studies in there throughout the week. It currently serves as a name only to honor the history. We are actually wrapping up a money raising campaign to replace the roof and do some interior updates to support the ministry that is ongoing in that building. There are 2 floors of offices above a portion of the building to house our staff as well.
The Interior.
Skate City/Starlite: The roller floor may have been Maple but I am not sure. The photo did not show good. But it was very spacious feel interior which was a very positive opinion of mine to feel spacious in this Segmental Arch open space Wood Trusses. Reminded me of a mix of a church and a rink. Ironically, both a rink and a church are in that building now.
The Rink:
The Exterior.
Skate City/Starlite: Originally was just very simple Segmental Arch building that was a roller rink. Then when the church began, it changed.
The Rink: Northland Church purchased the buildng and started as a church there with much renovation on the outside as seen in the photo above. Then today's photo, they expanded around and that arch is still there. This building I believe is a youth center for the church as the main worship center is located near the original building.
The grounds is quite big now that it has 2 main buildings. The Rink is now part of the Youth Ministry and the main center for the church itself. I love the Ultra Modernism Abstractism for the main church with earth tones colors. The Rink itself is modern looking as well but just Modernism. Big difference in appearance than the main church building.

YES! Please check it out but please RESPECT that this is a house of worship where you pray, praise, and listen to God's Word. They do have The Rink. It is on East side of the church campus which you can unmistakable know that is the old Skate City location. But the worship center is the new Ultra Modernism building where you can worship. If and when they have fellowship in that old rink building, then you can see it. Ask church for details when you go to church.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
