Skate Barn 1108 East Old Hwy 40, Warrenton, Missouri (Truesdale, MO)
Skate Barn is not what you think. It is not a barn but it was a skating rink in Warrenton, Missouri. Not a whole lot of information regarding this rink except it was for sale at one time on Loopnet.
UPDATE - someone on Facebook send me a message about this place. her Antique business!
The Skate Barn opened in 1980, was eventually closed and the building sold. Ethan Allen purchased the building in Dec. 2011 and the Antique Barn opened for business in June 2012. As to this day we are still growing and going strong as an antique shop, 8 1/2 years later! You may even find a pair of skates or two for sale.
Of course, you never know what you will find in an antique shop or a thrift store. Or even at your rink where skaters left their skates for good and never picked up (I found 3 pairs and no one picked them up in a year so I took one and a friend of mine took his. Mine was an Inline skate. Later I sold it for 45 Dollars. This was in 1991. I preferred my quads.
Hey skaters, check out Antique Barn! You never know!
I do not know why that rink went out of business.
They had a simple white steel Salt-Box,.. well, almost that because it is close to the center of the building. Salt Box usually about a quarter or even a fifth of the roof area close to the side wall or front wall like any 1950s fast food chain restaurant would have with that style. It had a big plastic awing over the front doors-both enter and exit. It had steel doors. No windows of any kinds.
This rink was established on May 5, 1980 by Carlyle F. Boehringer who operated the rink. The closure I do not have at all. But due to the Loopnet real estate website, it shows it was January 21, 2009 when the rink was up for sale.
Today that antique shop is going strong! Please visit Antique Barn (I mean both website and in person!)
Interior, I have no idea. No photos. Nothing of that nature.
