Google Map. Noticed how poor quality Google Map had back in 2000s. A real relic photograph. But anyway, you noticed where the rink was and it did look like it is attached to the building on the left but it was not. It is quite similar to the one on the left-same material and color. But not adjoined. Just merely maybe 5 feet apart from those two. Sign with the name and cowboy mascot.
Courtesy of Loopnet. Noticed the close up. And looked bare on the outside the same idea as in that top photo. Just the sign. Notice the sign had their mascot cowboy?
Skate Away 3534 Big Horn Ave, Cody, WY
Skate Away had unique name for this Cody, Wyoming location. It was opened in 1994 and it closed in....perhaps in 2000s because Google Map is showing a photo of some trucks parked there. Looked deserted as a rink although the name stood on that sign in 2007. Maybe it was in 2009 because of Loopnet mentioned it was up for sale that year.
So, roughtly in 2000s they closed.
It was built in 1980 so likely the rink was opened that year. Was it? And it had a remodel in November 2009 so must be to remove all related assets of a roller rink into a bare bone building. It had clear ceiling meaning it was a Gable roof with cathedral ceiling.
It was a Free stand Steel truss steel-walled warehouse-like structure for the rink. It had Light Grey paint on the building. It looked white or off White in the winter photo shown above. But it is not. It is Light Grey. Only thing was the sign saying "Skate Away" with the cartoonish Cowboy that reminded me of a statue of a cowboy at a car dealership/defunct roller rink out in mid-west. The roof was Gabled. Please do not mistaken that the rink building is attached to another building to the left in the photo. It shows it is separated building perhaps wide enough just for a human to walk through. That is how narrow it was. And that building has similar materials and paint on as well.
Loopnet had this rink listed for real estate in June 2009 and was taken off on March 21, 2011. Must be it got leased or sold.
There are no photographs of the interior. Unfortunately I could not go on much with this regard. Sorry.
They had a remodel in November 2009 as attempt to sell the building, not as a rink anymore.
