Google Map, 2013. Bad timing! I could not get any better photo without the dumpsters and tractor trailers there. Yes, more than 1 for each. Although I love that stone fireplace there which was unusual for a skating rink (or any commercial).
Rendering courtesy of the Saylors/Silver Wheels Roller Rink. Beautiful rendering of the building. Not much changes though. New sign, paint, and sidewalk surrounded the building for parking lot.
Photos courtesy of the Saylors/Silver Wheels Roller Rink. The two men working on cinderblocks to bring up to 40 inches in height. Yes, you can measure them if you know your architecture. (A block is 7 5/8 plus concrete mix it brings up to 8 inches even. Then you multiply by 5 rows). I prefer 40 to 48 because it prevent skaters from sitting on the rail which can cause injuries to sitters or those skating right by if the rails are low. Many skaters do that at many rinks anyhow.
Photos courtesy of the Saylors/Silver Wheels Roller Rink. The redone on the rink floor and during a session in that order. The interior with the lights really made you feel warm. They used Pine Tongue-and-Grove wood planks on the wall which makes the rink feels rustic and 1950s. This appearance does brings you back to 1950s look. Yes, there is a diamond ball but no flashing Starburst lights right by it, no big lights on the ceiling above the rink. A few on the sides. Hard to tell with the mirror ball because of lights were dimmed and only lights shining was that light you seen in the photo shining at the ball. I love this interior here because it feels like home. Not stressful all commercial appearance with murals of 1980s on.
Facebook post courtesy of Silver Wheels Roller Rink. Truly was sad. Yes, I am one of the 48 who were sad, and shocked.

Silver Wheels Roller Rink was located at 225 North 10th Street in Parsons, Kansas. It's official name was Silver Wheels. This rink opened in 1968 but apparently must have closed sometimes in 2013 but reopened in 2015 with heavy renovation. Then they closed for good on Monday June 12, 2017. Almost exact date of registration which was on June 3, 1968. They must have opened by Fall 1968.
There is no statement saying why they closed in 2013. And reopened a year alter.
Rod and Emily Salyers reopened the Silver Wheels rink in late 2014 after much delays and remodel. But it was a short lived rink for about 2 and half years. Real sad.
The Interior.
I do not have any original photos of the rink before the rebooted rink. The redone on the rink floor and during a session in that order. The interior with the lights really made you feel warm.
