Credit: Google Map. Noticed the front door with a vehicle blocking? That was main entrance to the rink. Quite large rink. Next door to a Chinese restaurant.

Showtime Skating, 144 Eastern Blvd., Watertown, NY
Showtime Skating Rink was another short-lived roller rink. It was Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army where he finished his service at Fort Drum, New York. By the way, M. Sgt. (Ret.) Isaac Alexis III, thank you for defending the Constitution of the United States and I want to add, thank you for defending our Faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Isaac already had experience in skating rink management in the past before coming to Fort Drum, he served in Roswell, New Mexico, the home of the infamous Roswell U.F.O. Incident of 1947. I do not know what rink that was and not sure if it is still in operation or not. Anyway, when relocated to Fort Drum, he started up the rink in the area after seeing Watertown needed a rink for the children. He felt like a foster parent with his wife whom she also helped started the rinks. They have no children.
Isaac began Showtime Skating on Friday June 25, 2010. Isaac retired from services on July 31st. That gave him more time to focus on the rink.
The rink was in the former Hacketts department store in Northland Plaza on 144 Eastern Boulevard in Watertown, NY. It does not say anything on the maps online about the rink.. The Google Map has street level photo of the plaza dated September 2013, well before the rink closed in November 2013. The aerial bird view showed same thing as dated copyrighted 2019. Apparently it may have been a storage facility at the former department store building along with several other smaller businesses that subdivided the large department store in this pretty awkward plaza.
The rink exterior was unchanged because it was a department store before with that plan big box look. So plain looking. It was white colored building.
The interior of the rink was rather pleasant though. It had a mural with the black font for a name, Showtime Skating with bright colorful background. It had natural earth tone greens around the rink with the logo mural on the rest area. They had roller derby meets there as well as skating for all ages.
They had several interesting things at the rink. Quite educational as matter of fact. They had a small library at the rink! Children checking out books. This is very unique and original. Maybe skating rinks should do that and block wifi? They should! Why arrive with cell phones and just talk on the phone and not skating for fun? Isaac was on the right idea.
The rink had very spacious recreational area with billiards, games, snack bar, and rest area to watch skaters. This was one of quite modern clean rink without that crazy glow in dark carpets and crazy murals. What Isaac was attempting was to bring the rink into the 21st century, not that 1990s crazy carpet look with crazy murals. Very clean minimalist look.
The floor apparently looked like concrete with painted and special finish to make it shining. That is the cheapest way to do so for this rather large size rink.
The rink also had concerts there and as proof, one of the photo with copyrighted name cross the picture which ruined the view. I can see three teenage girls really swoon over this rapper. Concerts, derbies, and even USO, a U.S. military organization to help military officials have recreational time and spend time with their families and friends and they held that at the rink. Again, Thank you M. SGT. Isaac Alexis III for allowing this for our troops!
They had several organizations use the rink for their events/fellowship. USO, literacy council, etc.
Unfortunately, Isaac and his wife, Darla who both started the rink sold the rink to the final owner and moved away in June 2012 and then the rink lost its lease in November 2013 because of the owner/management of the plaza wanted changes into a storage facility. In fact, when the reporter for the Watertown Daily Times came, Showtime Skating manager Ron Brown was not aware of the issue happening that the rink would close. It was mis-communication that cause of the confusion.
Because of the changes, that forced the rink to close. It was a real beautiful modern clean rink only to shut down and ruined by storages! Someone should have bought out the plaza owner and kept the rink and do better with the plaza because it was not very popular and lack of better businesses.
