Before Skatetasia, it was Sardi's Skating Center at 320 Oak Grove Road, Sardis, Mississippi. Unfortunately, I do not have much to tell because Sardi's Skating Center had no information. It was found on one of the list from Video Paradise. Anyway, only I found Skatetasia has a Facebook business page. No website. Still operational.
I do not know when Sardi's Skating Center began but the current owner, Jeannie H. bought Sardi in 1992 and still operational for nearly 30 years. I have seen her pictures on Facebook and she looks great working hard to keep this beautiful interior. I love the interior. See the Interior section. It is Family operated since Jeannie and her daughter works together.
The name Skatetasia clearly came from Fantasia. That is my opinion what I thought the name came from.
The Interior.
It has beautiful Maple wood floor with Purple and Lime Green walls. Some of the murals had that 1990s Funky or Folk Art. A rarity you seen at a rink and was a common but brief art style. I remember the trend at the time. It was similar to the 90s version of Memphis Graphic design. But not deeply as Memphis. It was more toward 90s Tropical somewhat. Not 80s Deco or Miami Beach (or SoBe) Deco.
The Exterior.
It is a Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse - like Building with Salt Box roof design. The reason is you can see the photo that showed that style. Gable usually centered on the building but this one did not. More toward the right. Not centered.
They have striped colors on the exterior walls. Narrow White on Goldish Brass-ish color on the wall.
