Royal Roller Rink Oak Harbor, OH
Royal Roller Rink was located in Oak Harbor, Ohio. I could not find on two Facebook groups... the library in that town and the Remembering Old Roller Rinks of Past and Present. They both have it but they have so much information and I could not find that "needle in the haystack."
Anyone know more about this rink.
All I know are the pictures in eBay and other postcard related websites and Susan A. Miller's site. All are exactly the same. Blue ink printed on square cards and the photograph in Black and White. All showing the same photo of a janitor sweeping the roller skating rink. That would take a very long time to sweep. Good thing I had put on my own skates and use a motorized sweeper and vacuum cleaner to clean the rink in about 10 to 15 minutes wood floor version of Zamboni! I went twice on that to be sure it is clean and I wiped with my hand and it was all good. Sweeping that floor the old fashioned way, about an hour.
They had Terrazzo floor laid on the rink.
The Interior.
It had a Terrazzo floor on the roller rink. On one end, the front end had much windows wall to wall from floor to ceiling as seen in the photo. Apparently it was a store front perhaps a plaza or even a free-standing.
The Exterior.
Apparently they had storefront style because of those windows wall to wall floor to ceiling. They may have had windows on the side and rear but it was mostly front. Very modern looking by seeing in that picture which is quite difficult to see in B/W photo. Not only that, the balance of lighting inside was not good which made it difficult for me and you to observe what it was like inside. It would be nice for photos of both inside and outside.
