It is Spin City right now at 915 South Washington Street in Junction City, Kansas but before that, there were other other names-- Roundabout Skating Center. and Skate Junction.
It began in 183 with Skate Junction then in 2004 as Roundabout Skating Center. It may have been a short lived rink because Google Map showed in 2007 the transitions into Spin City because there were no logo of Spin City on the sign and the building in 2007. I believe it happened around 2008-ish it became that name.
No other information I could find at the moment.
The Interior.
The original, I do not know what it was like, No information was available to provide. Only I see as Spin City and Spin City nailed right on the dot with Modernism. Very clean looking interior with clean colors and logo. No graffiti garbage or messy look. Because it does look like Spin City is under the city government recreation department which discourage illegal graffiti. Because there are no Spin City website to show and only found is in Junction City website. And of course Facebook.
But still, this is the rink you want to be at. Clean looking with Snow White bottom half that reaches the top of the rails and upper part are Royal Blue with clean crisp logo for Spin City. I love it! This makes you want to skate there.
The floor appeared to be either wood painted White or Concrete floor painted White. Anybody know about this?
The story may have been different with Skate Junction and Roundabout. Anybody know about this and any old photographs?
The Exterior.
It is a semi-Googie's style Free-Span Steel Truss Steel and Cinderblock-Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gable roof. It is a wanna-be Googie's look. To understand why I classified this building as a wanna-be is the style. If you seen what Spin City today has for the look, the big flat vertical surface with a slight slant top like a Salt-Box. This is atypical 1950s style with a modern steel sheet metal walled building that they attempt to hide that common modern budget-consciences roller rinks with the warehouse look exterior (Take your pick on Dead-Rinks and you will see what I am referring to).
