Google Map 2011. It is long gone. Between the parking lot and the trees was the former rink.
USGS. 1981. See the rink and the admission door on the right side facing Kingston Pike. No one there to skate in this photo! Must be taken during the week daytime.
USGS. 1992. Already a car dealership since you can see how grouped some cars by colors. I know its grainy but I have one good sharp eye. I am a Designer so I know what I see.
USGS. 2002. Cars are all lined up as it is for a dealership. Yes, it was for car dealership. Did the dealership turn the rink into a repair and paint shop? I do not know. Anyone know the fate of the rink after it was closed and why it was all demolished as seen in 2020 photo shown below. Courtesy of Google Map (bottom). You can see the outline of the main rink floor! I can see it was in the middle of the building toward the back. The dealership is gone.
Both coupons courtesy of Rolling Ridge Skating Center Facebook group. Both are voided since the rink has long since closed.
Rolling Ridge Skating Center 8811 Kingston Pike W., Knoxville, TN
This roller rink, Rolling Ridge Skating Center was on 8831 Kingston Pike West in Knoxville, Tennessee. Not much information but they do have a Facebook group for skaters who attended that rink back the day. Anyone know what happened to that rink that is gone? I mean the entire building is gone. Demolished. But also when did it open, and reason why they closed? Etc?
Google Map has it addressed as 8831 Kingston Pike West, Knoxville, Tennessee. Either they renumbered that street or was an error. Or something!
The only thing I can find photograph of the building was using from USGS. Today, you can see the scar of the former rink. I believe after they closed, this automobile dealership used the parking lot for their automobiles lot.
I do not have anything older from USGS than 1981. Likely it was open before that time and closed in the 1990s because of the way the dealership arranged cars. In 1982 photo, I see a few cars parked along the side of the parking lot but the 1992, empty. Then after that, all perfectly arrangement of cars the way they are parked.
So my guess it closed in very late 1980s. It looked brand new pavement in the 1981 photo so it should be around 1978 to 1980 opening.
The parking lot then became a used automobile dealership which then closed for good as well.
According to Knox Net, it listed as a "Soccer house" Really? No information so far to verify this.
The Interior.
They had two rinks. Main rink and a beginner's rink in the back. There was also a disco floor. Apparently the main rink was not that big as I can see the Google Map close up. But the lines were still there. Shaggy carpet on the walls. (all sourced from their Facebook group). They had multi-colored disco floor.
The Exterior.
I believe the front door was actually on the right side of this long rectangular shaped building that parallel to Kingston Pike. It was Gable Roofed Free-Span Steel Truss Warehouse - like Building. I do not know what material was the walls on the outside.

Rink Size: N/A. Floor: N/A. Floor Layout: N/A.
