This was taken after Ozone closed for good. Basically the building was pretty much the same except for addition of the front french doors (white behind the trash bin).
Was that part of the old roller rink Maple floor in the middle? Possible but I am not sure. And thats terrible how they ruined the floor! Looks like someone drove it in there! Only remains from the rink you can tell is the mirror ball.

Rollin Wheels Skating Arena 8185 Old City Pond Rd Covington, GA
Rollin Wheels Skating Arena was on 8185 Old City Pond Rd Covington, Georgia surrounded with beautiful forest behind the former rink. After it was closed, it became a night club with rustic look. It looked country music place inside but according to Yelp, it was not.
Anyway, back to the rink. I only have information regarding to the next business after this rink was closed, it became O-Zone Bar and Grill which is also closed for good. Oh well. Anyone know when this rink first opened and went out of business?
I found several dates of the same location closed. Unfortunately. Nothing much but only know more about the building.
UPDATE: I got the updates from a former skater who skated there AND as a bar patron. Here is what she has to say and I had to change a word to clean this up a bit. Sorry Melissa!
Ok so this is one from my earliest memories it shut down before 2000 may 2001 or so. Remember skating in t[he] little tykes skates here. The club was Ozone and I went there as well but it was a bar called Down the Hatch before it was the Ozone or Hozone as we so nicknamed it because of all the [Prostitutes] that would congregate there lol. It definitely was not a country style place Lil Whyte preformed there once it was pretty neat but there were lots of fights there and I think someone got hurt I can't really remember anywho back to the skating rink itself. It had a giant yellow bird with shorts [and] a shirt and some skates looked like it was rolling painted on the back wall of the rink. They also had an antique old timey arcade game made of metal with no computerized components at the food section I remember that vividly where you could hoot things next to the concessions. Yes, that is the original floor in front of the stage and the disco ball has been hanging there since the rink first opened since it has been nothing but nightclubs no one has seen any reason to get up there to take it down.
I believe that giant yellow bird with clothes on is known as Kooky A Bird. It is one of the mascot of RSAI - the Roller Skating Association International that many rinks use mascots if they are members of the association. The main one is Roller Roo the kangaroo on skates. Both are on skates. I could be wrong and it was an entirely different mascot.
Thanks Melissa!
The Interior.
I have not seen any photos of the rink however, of the night club, yes. It was heavily modified and they added a stage, wooden horse fence style, a huge oval bar, and balconies around the dance center. And they have another room perhaps for a private party. I am not sure because they did not take pictures of that part. Clearly the rink itself was small because of the building size IS the size of a NHL rink.. well, almost. 5 feet narrower for the building. If so, this means just 80 feet wide by 180 or even 160 feet long rink.
The Exterior.
Similar roof style to another rink in the area, Fun & Games Family Entertainment Center which is now Skate Zone. Gable, of course but I am referring to the step style Gable roof, not the walls. This one has steel sheet walls around the building. it sits on a beautiful forest around the building. And the color compliment each other. Tan colored walls against the Green Georgian forest.
Unfortunately they will destroy that beautiful forest by building a new development that are all houses.
The original doors are on right side of the front. O-Zone Bar added house-style front double doors in the middle. Truly unmatchable to the glass doors on the side. I believe the glass doors were originally placed when the rink was around. 200 ft. x 80 ft. 2-storey l commercial building
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: N/A. Floor Layout: N/A.
Building Size: 200' X 80' (16,200 SF). Built: 1988. Demolished: Still standing.
Type of Building: Free Span Steel Truss Steel Walled Warehouse Building. 2 storeys.
Roof: Gable, multi-level roof.
Acres: 1.41 acres solely for the rink area, includes 37 acres of forestry land.
Operated: 1988 to c. 2000/2001.
(O-Zone Bar and Grill: 2009 to 2014)
(New Development: 2014 to now)
Reason for Closure: N/A.
Wanted: Information regarding photos of the rink itself! Both interior and exterior. Got plenty already for the bar. Exact when opened and closed for both. Why closed for both?
Anyone has pictures and/or information please let me know at [email protected]. Thank you.
