All photos courtesy of Skate Tolt. Bottom photo appears that this man is all by himself seeing nearly empty rink. This looks like a sad photo. The colors on such things enabled more sadness.
Rollin Wheels of Destin, 122 Poinciana Blvd, Destin, FL
This rink was a very short lived rink. It only lasted about a year! Most businesses fail under 5 years. Especially in first two years as they say. Rollin Wheels of Destin was exactly as it spelled. Not Rolling Wheels of Destiny. There is a town called Destin, Florida as it spells. Also not related to the mall either, Destiny USA Mall of Syracuse, NY.
Apparently there was not much to tell because it only ran a year and I got the dates of start and end. I have only ONE exterior photo found on oocities, a defunct website. Apparently I can see what building it was. It was a Gabled-roof warehouse style building without a canopy overhead the drive through for pickups and drop offs. The parking lot arrangement was different in that photo compared to Google Map and the church's website. Right now, the rink is no longer operating and it has been annexed into a Christian non-denomination church by adding a new beautiful sanctuary facility. Looks like a large church that can hold at least 1000 members on a Sunday Morning service.
The interior, however, on oocities website, it showed a professional hockey rink full-size. It has dual purpose on the floor. Both as Roller Hockey and Ballroom Skating floor. It was two tones rink. Black and White against Black gable ceiling. It was half walled around built as a Roller Hockey Rink. The photos, all taken by "Skate Toft" showed that it was sparse number of skaters. Apparently this is why they closed by 2001. Likely that church but I am not sure.
Just the observation of the building itself-It apparently looks between mid to large rink. Needs more information but it only lasted a year.
Rink Size: 85 Feet X 200 Feet (Full Pro-Hockey size) 17,000 SF Floor: Concrete, Black and White (two toned) coated Polyurethane Floor Layout: Duel purpose - Roller Dancing and Roller Hockey.
Building Size: N/A Now a church. Built: Likely 1997.
Type of Building: Free Span Steel Warehouse Building. Now a church.
Roof: Gable
Acres: N/A
Operated: January 2, 1998 to September 24, 1999 (reports say was under new management in 2001 but not vertified).
Reason for Closure: Loss of business?
Wanted: Information regarding Photos interior and exterior, why closed, and actual dates.
