Rollerama Skate Center which is now Zoomers Skate club at 1683 Marion Mt Gilead Road, Marion, Ohio. This street name is quite long! But it would zoom by fast when you talk than typing! Haha. Ok, Rollerama Skate Center first operated in the year 2000 according to Manta. Is that true? And when the name change to Zoomers Skate Club? This rink is based on memberships like Costco, BJ's, Sam's Club, and the fitness centers plus the YMCA would do.
From reading in Marion Star newspaper online, it was operational long before 2000. When did Rollerama began? Must be way back because Kandy Yarger's grandparents and parents operated roller rink, miniature golf, and swimming pool businesses during the 20th Century. Her father, Arthur Denis passed away that year 2000.
Funny, a connection to this rink in 1987, the roller rink went into foreclosure and was handled by Don Yarger who currently owns the rink since 2000! Don Yarger was the banker at the time when this occurred.
I noticed for Zoomers website that they have in their ad or schedule the 4 letters-- BYOB which stands for Bring Your Own Bottle (or known as Beverages that are alcohol, Booze, or Beer). It is not licensed to sell alcoholic beverages. Zoomers have adult only parties with BYOB.
From 1987 to 2000, it was operated by Arthur Denis. His estate included the rink that Kandy and Don Yarger were named and they decided to take over the rink. This brings a question. Was it a different name for this rink before? Did it have a miniature golf course on the property? And a swimming pool?
Currently Zoomers is owned and operated by Kandy Yarger along with her husband Don Yarger.
The Interior.
Rollerama Skate Center: Beautiful Fan layout non-painted Hardwood Maple with Polyurethane coat. The walls and carpet during that time are unknown.
Zoomers Skate Club: Beautiful Fan layout non-painted Hardwood Maple with Polyurethane coat. Has beautiful comfortable colors of Royal Blue with two hues of Lime Greens. Lighter and a different hue or color balance to it. It is quite comfortable colors there and common for many rinks with those colors (most rinks I noticed have Blue and Green interior which are most popular for many decades since 1970s. Strong stripes and some circles. I love how well balance those colors are and very inviting and comfortable at this rink. They have matching carpet that are glow colors to it with same colors as the walls. I love current look.
The Exterior.
Rollerama Skate Center: It is a Free-Span Steel Trusses Cinderblocks- Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gabled Roof. The design on the outside with paint or murals are unknown.
Zoomers Skate Club: It is a Free-Span Steel Trusses Cinderblocks- Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gabled Roof. The design on the outside display a very long stretched "Z" which stands for Zoomers. Very catchy with this design. It reminded me of the 80s graphics that were popular with the letter Z like Arctic Cat Z, Thundercat models had those Z. Even BNG on automobiles had those graphics. Really interesting. So, this rink brought back classics to modern day.
