Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA. This was taken before they closed. Or already closed because of stuff outside of the door including the ladder, stuff out there. Dark Orange fonts, Was the color Brown at one point or was this the color closely to Plum? Source: Roller Roost II/Tom Smith.

Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA. This is a sad rink because of paint repealing and boring Off-White Salmonish color on the wall. And the floor was that Sky Blue Concrete color which helped to know the difference than the NHL and other ice rinks do look. I saw for first time a photograph of Roller Roost Sports Arena and how they look now. Too much like ICE hockey rink! Too much! Because it has Ice Hockey Rink White on now! Source: Roller Roost II/Tom Smith.
Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA. This is a beautiful rink but no one was skating! I see someone was on the phone! This is common now as I see at rinks today online like this one or even in person. Yes, I skated in November 2021 and I saw people like that person, rarely skated. Source: Roller Roost Sports Arena.
Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA. This is a beautiful arcade area with speckles style Terrazzo. It does look 1950s but very stylish for 2020. Are they sparking a new trend to stay away from carpet? Possible because with Terrazzo floor, you can actually wash and polish the floor better than carpets because of spills, sweats, and germs and viruses do live in even Berber carpets. Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA. This was after the new owner bought the rink and started this way with leaving the White ceiling panels and the THREE Starbursts light up but now they have 2 basketball hoops, they removed the panels and the beautiful lights. Slowly fading away from old school 70s rink into a sports arena. Real sad. It was Off White on that back wall that lead all around the rink. Now it has Black paint by the rink itself with Roller Roost Sports Arena. Source: Roller Roost Sports Arena.
Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA. This was the snack bar on the left and the rink on the rink when it was Roller Roost II. You can tell by the paint on the wall. It was Off White on that back wall that lead all around the rink. Now that Snack Bar-Eat Area has Arctic Green on the wall with Black paint by the rink itself with Roller Roost Sports Arena. Roller Roost II 94 Westwood Road, Pottsville, PA was a roller rink with a very unusual name. I do not know why it was called Roller Roost. Well, this rink was the 2nd one to the original I do not know where. Clearly the original was closed longer ago. But Roller Roost II lasted from November 1980 to 15 June 2020 that Tom Smith owned and operated.
But sadly on 15 June 2020, Thomas Smith sold the rink because he was losing money in past few years plus with The Great Virus Outbreak and Lockdown of 2020 nailed it shut. Good thing 2 people bought the building and saved the rink. Good job! Just like the clock tower lady asked Marty to donate money.. Haha. The two people saved the rink.
It was sold to another company as the news said but did not say what kind of company and said it was closing for good. did someone else bought it to save as a rink? It is possible because it is NOW Roller Roost Sports Arena. Someone saved the rink and the name where it truly belonged. Could have called it Roller Roost III. Or Roller Roost II-A. Or II-B. Anyway, glad they are back. This is kind of in between here I have to say because this rink is dead but resurrected with same name. This falls for ALIVE Rink actually. But listed in Dead-Because of Rinks though because of previous name.
Roller Roost II is back as Roller Roost Sports Arena in July 2020. Becky Hoover reopened the rink.
Because of the closure was confirmed by the news, WNEP 16, Roller Roost II DID close and DID get SOLD so it falls in this section of Dead-Rinks. Not ALIVE rinks. It will be in BOTH parts though. OK, skaters? Hope no complaints.
According to Realty Trac, the most recent time the building was sold was on 01 October 2021! Did they sell the building but kept the rink? That is a risk because new owner can have more power and rights to kick the rink out of business. It is sad and higher risk for Roller Roost Sports Arena to face. Bad idea.
The Interior.
Roller Roost II: The color was just Gray walls but colorful Starbursts of many colors on carpets as a black light carpet. The ceiling feature ever popular Starburst lights.
Roller Roost Sports Arena: It was heavily renovated interior during the Great Virus Outbreak and Lockdown of 2020 that they did a lot of painting job. Mostly in Lime Green walls the same with exterior. It appeared to be more Arctic Cat brand colors of Arctic Green and Arctic Black on the building and interior with exception of the black-light carpets that features starbursts of various colors here and there.
They painted the roller floor to be like a hockey rink with the same color as ice would be. It is very confusion to unknown skaters or skaters still think it is ice rink. Many rinks that focus on roller hockey as a major sports activity, they are likely to be
The rink floor size is a Medium-Large at 72 Feet by 174 Feet.
The Exterior.
Mansard style roof with Flat Roof top It also have attached Barn-like building next to the Free-Span Steel Trusses Cinderblocks- Walled Warehouse - like Building.
Roller Roost II: They had that 1980s colors on all that time until it was sold in 2020. Chocolate Brown with some kind of Yellow on the wall. Originally it was colorful sign and was fading then Tom Smith had it repainted in Orange. It was the Arctic Cat Pentera colors of 1976-81. Read on why I said that. In 1980, the brown and orange and yellow were trendy in-color at the time. Heck, I had a 1985 Ford LTD II with the same colors! Orange stripes with Chocolate Brown exterior. I sure miss that car.
Roller Roost Sports Arena: This time, they painted over the entire facility with Black paint and the Arctic Green on it. It does look like an Arctic Cat dealer because of those colors. No offense, RRSA! Good thing they put the sign back up saying Roller Roost. No more II on it. The photograph they took with the drone lacked the name of the rink. Must be it was removed to be repainted. It is painted Orange. That is another Arctic Cat color. Even the Blue. Is the owner an Arctic Cat snowmobiler? Who knows. Pennsylvania is in the snowbelt and snowmobiling are common in that state as it s with NYS, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. I grew up with Arctic Cat brand to snowmobile since 1972 starting with the Kitty Cat. Rode Fox Trac in 1969 to ride snowmobile for first time.
