Two versions of the same logo of Roller Palace. One might have been an update. Likely the right side is the updated version.
Google Map. Taken in 2015. Best view without vehicles in the way. The main doors are the double Blue doors with the blue sign in the corner of the building where the flat roof was.
Courtesy of Google Image. A fan took picture likely with film. Grainy. Oh well.

4 photos courtesy of Roller Palace Group on Facebook. Hey, someone was hiding skate rental! Can you find it in one of those pictures. And oh, did someone forgot the water bottle? It was a no-no! Uh oh, someone hid the skates and left water bottle and ran! When I was working at Sports, I get to find many rentals hiding! not in lockers because my boss said just focus on outside of lockers when cleaning. So I found rentals and 3 brand new skates as well. Yes, people left it there and a year later, I claimed one.. the Inline skates. Later sold for 50 Dollars because I prefer Quads. Then I got my Quads for 25 dollars on sale at Kmart in 1991. Remember Kmart? Yeah, I did remember them. I made a cool 25 Dollars myself until I retired those skates and bought a new one I have in 2018 for 130 Dollars which was on sale and business discount thanks to an awesome manufacturer. So, in a turn around, I only paid 105 Dollars extra plus that 25 from the sale of Inline Skates. Ha.
The signs had Balloon Fonts which to match the 1970s style. They kept that through 40 years. But the logo of Roller Palace was script. Huge difference.

All courtesy of Google Images. Bottom one was beautiful floor! Wow! All shining! Too bad they are closed.
Advertisement courtesy of The Breen Family. This was grand opening advertisement for Roller Palace to announce when they are opening. I see an error. They placed Monday the 8th BEFORE Sunday the 7th. It should have read other way around.

Roller Palace 130 Sohier Rd, Beverly, MA
There was a palace called Roller Palace, no not where the king and queen live. Hahha. It was a roller rink at 130 Sohler Road in Beverly, Massachusetts. This rink was started by Robert Breen, Margaret Breen, and Ken Breen and the doors were opened on October 7, 1979.
They opened during the Roller Skating Craze of the late 1970s along with Disco. They continued with the rink till they closed in 2018. That was sad.
They ran passed Disco craze successfully and blessed to pass the risk of dying along with Disco. And the downturns but they made it through and to keep it survived, they had to add football (Futbol) to play on AstroTurf that was rolled down on beautiful Clear Coated Maple Fan Layout wood floor with the walls beautifully still fresh look of 1970s stripes and colors on the walls.
Recent photos showed still having that 1970s Blue with 3 tones of accent colors of Yellow, Orange, and Red. It is like I have seen those colors before. Maybe some thing. Automobiles, snowmobiles, boats, Watercrafts (especially the WetBike), had those bold stripes on. I think I recalled from studying brochures through the years, this was related to a later WetBike model with those colors on. And I believe a boat had that. However, the 3 tones of accent colors were almost exactly the same on 1977 Ford Pinto and Pinto Wagon. You remember those? I believe you do if you remember them. Sorry I know, our ages are showing. Google them, you will find them.
It says it was sold in August 15, 2018. But the rink closed on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
The Interior.
It had beautiful Polished Clear coated Polyurethane coated Maple wood with Fan layout as you can see in the photos seen on their 2 Facebook pages. The original rink and fan pages. Beautiful floor all shining done.
The walls had the main blue including the half-walls which were a little lower to about 2 feet high. I can tell because of a group of skaters sat on the wall for a group photo. Quite low. And I know Cinderblocks sizes. 4 levels of blocks with cement. Slightly over 2 feet. Most rinks have their Cinderblock walls higher. This wall would match to Skate City in Denver, Colorado seen on the cover of SKATE magazine if you see this page called, "Understanding the Rink Analogy." Roll down to the section called, Popular Accessories at Rinks Through History.
The walls around the rink had Blue with Red stripe on top of the Blue as Orange is on top of the Red, as Yellow on top of Orange and as for on roller floor, White walls are added because of vaulted raised ceiling higher than the off-rink area.
The Exterior.
The exterior looked very much like a small factory with offices up front where the Flat roof is however, the rest is Gable and higher. It was built with unique Cinderblock design for exterior walls. Similar type of walls found for interior at Bonaventure Rink in Michigan (Still operational) which you can see better at this page, Architecture Rink History.
The Stats:
Rink Size: 80' x 180'. Floor: Clear coated Polyurethane coated Maple. Floor Layout: FAN.
Building Size: 54,120 SF (WOW)*. Built: 1973. Demolished: 2019, now a storage facility.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Cinderblock-Walled factory - like Building.
Roof: Gable with front Flat roof.
Acres: 4.01 Acres.
Operated: (Actually 1973) Sunday, October 7, 1979 to Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Reason for Closure: N/A.
*The size of the building was measured for the new building built in 2019 as a storage complex so the actual size was less for the skating rink. The actual size is unknown but for now it is set for current building size according to Realty Trac.
Wanted: Information regarding exact dates of open/closed, why closed, size of rink, rink materials. Also photos. Anyone knows or have photos, please let me know by emailing at [email protected]. Thank you.
