Google Map. Exterior of where the rink was.
All photos except for top are of Google Map users including Rollin Skating Center, Melody Bennett, Rick Jacoby,
Roller Express 727 6th Ave W., Grinnell, IA
Roller Skating Center 727 6th Ave W., Grinnell, IA
First it was Roller Express but there are no information however, the next generation was Roller Skating Center. Just Roller Skating Center. It did not have prefix name to "Roller Skating Center". That really separate from all other rinks that usually use "Roller Skating Center" after a special name. Same goes with -Rama, or Family Fun Center or to that some context.
There is not much information but plenty of photos... of flyers! Well, that was Facebook but on Google Map collection of photos, they do.
The Interior.
This one of by far one of the most unusual rink. It had be housed in actual warehouse building or a factory building. It was a very large open space for a rink there that they used Standard Concrete Blue paint on Concrete rink that it is. But the whole space interior was not used. There are quite dark and spooky backgrounds seen in the photo. Must be they used part of the huge building. Clearly it was a factory or warehouse before it became rinks then back to business again.
The snack bar area had very unusual appearance. All windows and the sign says "Snack Bar" in double arches in one line. There are items decorated upon the snack bar wall.
There are other parts of the building it had a high chain fence on there and there were wood wall hardly touched the ceiling and some of the lights not used. There are no disco lights, no diamond ball, nothing of that sort. Just a plain skate rink.
The Exterior.
The exterior showed it was a very huge facility! Looked to be 50,000 Square Feet or even more. However, the usage for the rink was small portion of the entire facility. It is currently some company now but that was the location of the rink in a real warehouse facility with Steel sheet metal walls, and extremely long Gable roof. Large parking lot. Tan color on one part, lighter on the other.
