Rollaway Skating Rink 1203 Idaho St, Lewiston, Idaho. One of the last photos of the closed rink. The interior showed it was Grey wood floor. Can tell by looking at the yellow light shining on the floor near the bottom of the page. Also notice the posts. It was not a free standing. And the rink again--it was log cabin style by seeing the left on the floor. Source: IMTribune website.

Anyway, he skated at this rink while many celebrities skated at Empire, Roxy, and many other rinks in NYC and Los Angeles. Skateland 1203 Idaho Street, Lewiston, Idaho
Rollaway Skating Rink was a roller rink in Lewiston, Idaho and it is no longer in business quite recently. Good thing Google Map and a few other information are preserved and is accountable in this profile.
It was registered and opened in 1987 according to Manta. However it was built in 1947 or 1948 and was a different name for this rink. However, an article did not state what names were for this roller rink. Yes, it was opened in 1947 or 1948 and at one time, it was called Skateland. Someone said Rollaway was a long time name. That was because it was registered and opened in 1987 making it 30 years under that name banner.
Anyone know of other names for this former rink building?
It was rather a large sized cinderblock building with Hip-roof design with Blue Aluminum (?) siding above the Cloudy White Blue blocks walls. The front was quite close to the road as well as side wall and rear wall were close to other roads. It was rather almost filled entire slot of property with the parking lot slot next to it. It was actually two lots according to that article again in Imtribune website (see link in source below).
The interior was not much to show in the photos on their fan Facebook page. They did show, however, one photo of a skater with the huge White "ROLLAWAY" neon light sign on the back end of the rink against Black wall background. All in caps. It was I believe beautifully executed sign for this rink to brighten in dark area. It was the showcase point in that rink. The floor, I see in one photo looks like wood with Ship Grey paint on it. Really? Looks that way. It was very monochromatic appearance in that rink. Interesting considering many rinks in past 50 years are colorful.. I mean really colorful thanks to murals, wall arts, etc.
I give credit to the owners for creativity to have it very anti-climatic of colors and stick with monochromatic colors. It shows spacious feel in night club-on-wheels feel. Likely it was meant to be like a night club of roller rinks. Empire Rollerdrome was another example with neon light for its name. I never been to a rink that has those such lights.
I do not know why they closed and out of business. I did try the link however, now it is some flooring company using that domain which I feel it is not right. It should have been Error 404.
