Rogers Rink Capitol Beach, Lincoln, NE
There are not much history about the rink but more about the amusement park called, Capitol Beach in Lincoln, Nebraska. It is said that there was a controversy regarding the lake that it was an illegal building of a dam and this, it built up a lake only to be about 6 or 7 feet deep! One of the most shadowed man-made lake in the world. They tried to drain but it was done for good to be a lake.
Then developers bought land and built an amusement park on the spot by the lake. It was rather a small amusement park. However, it was not a trolley park but it did look like a trolley park because of its small size and uniqueness of that park. It was more than just amusement, it was a recreation park too because they had a dance hall, roller rink, a swimming pool--all of that are recreation, the amusement park part was the roller coaster, and a few carnival style rides.
The rink I know was only found in the comment section saying it was open-air roller rink meaning outdoors or was a tent rink unless it was that arched-curved building with open walls. Kind of like what those modern roller rinks in New York City has. I could not find photos or anything related to this rink at all! Nothing. Only I could find is a sticker that you would see on Ebay. Many of those stickers say "30s to 50s" But not all of those stickers are really from those decades because some of the rinks were not in those decades! I don't trust ebay scammers.
I will still show that sticker because it is only thing of that rink left on the internet. A photo may show that building I just described that was in Lincoln-Journal Star newspaper history about that amusement park. Nothing said about the rink but I found in the comment section, yes someone said about the rink.
The photo appeared to be in 1952 in pre-opening day. Can you help me which or where was the roller rink? Thank you!
