Rock N Roll - Er Rink 322 Poplar St, Sterling, CO
Rock N Roll - Er Rink as it spelled correctly, was in Sterling, Colorado. I do not have much information at all but currently a furniture shop since 2011.
I have no idea what the interior was like and I have no idea what sign was like. Very bad picture on Google Map. I will try to enhanced it but if I could not get it, that is all I can get for you, my dear skate rink fans.
Congrats to the owners of Carol's Furniture and Sleep Shop for the LCCofC Business of the Week Award!
The Interior.
On April 17, 2021, I received an email from a skater who skated at this rink. This is what N.F. wrote to me.--
I came across your page and saw that you were looking for information on the old roller skating rink in Sterling, Colorado.
I don’t have any pictures, but I did go skating there many times.
The door on the left was the entrance. You went in, paid $3.25 at the register, and then walked through an open doorway and requested your skates at the same counter that you paid at, to the left of the door.
If you kept walking straight, you’d hit the snack bar, and to the right was an open area with tables and chairs and open cubbies along the far wall for belongings.
Behind the snack bar was a hallway to the bathrooms, the dj booth, and the rink, with an entrance and an exit separated by a half wall. The rink was a fairly large oval, blue, with lots of colored lights and a disco ball. The bathrooms were sketchy, and had no stalls or doors. The door on the right (of the front of the building) was the exit. The owner had it set up so that kids couldn’t let friends in, so you basically would leave through a set of locking double doors and nobody got back in without paying.
All the half walls and floors were carpeted, a sort of short pile orange and brown tile pattern, and the rink itself was a polished blue concrete.

The Exterior.
It is an old Redish-Orange Brick building with a lot of windows up front. It has a very unique architectural design that shaped like.. I cannot describe. It is very unique. The way it curves, the corner. I believe the rink had an expansion to the left of the photo. You can tell it looks more like it was added sometimes between when it was first built in 1925 and 2011 as the Google Map photo shown.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A Floor: Blue colored, Polyurethane coated concrete. Floor Layout: Standard
Building Size: N/A Built: 1925 Demolished: Still standing. Now a furniture store.
Type of Building: Storefront Red-Orange Brick Building.
Roof: Gable
Acres: 0.42 Acres. (Wow, small!)
Operated: N/A to 2011.
Reason for Closure: N/A
Wanted: Information regarding Photos of both interior and exterior, dates. Was it the rink ever been there since building built in 1925?
