Google Map. 2008 and 2013. It was demolished in November 2009. Sad it is gone but from the shape of it, it was badly needed either total rebuilt or demolish it. I think they choose the latter. Nature took over pretty well there.

This beloved rink that ran for most of the 75 years of this former rink, the Robert N Wilson Skating Rink at 828 49th Avenue in Meridian, Mississippi. This rink ran for a good long time right up to the time it was closed and demolished on November 24, 2009 according to this article in Meridian Star. This place the rink opened in 1953.
It was popular and well known that the fact when it was being demolished, a disappointing skater wrote a letter to the editor to the newspapers to state that the rink was being demolished and brought back memories for that person.
The rink while being bit unusual with the name, of course rinks had some owners first name basis only. But this one being full name, Robert N. Wilson who owned the rink for a long time. It is like Arthur Murray Dance that was named for the well known dancer or Jack Lalanne who owned once popular fitness center chain with bearing his full name for his well storied how he got into fitness. Back in 20th Century names like that are known to established fully related to their respective popular skills of theirs. Robert is to roller skating as Arthur is to ballroom dancing and Jack is to finesses and health.
The Interior.
Likely Maple? I am not sure.
The Exterior.
It was a crude Gable roofed Free-Span Wood(?) Truss Steel/Wood-Walled Warehouse - like Building. It was all Sheet Metal Gray. Very plain. Looked very sad by seeing that picture. Not just because it was cloudy that day, Google painted correctly with the gloominess that showed the rink would be demolished soon in that 2008 photo. Now the gorgeous day photo.. Just telling you that life moves on.
