Roanoke Skate Center was a rink before Turnaround Christian Center purchased it for a church at 2116 Highway 431, Roanoke, Al which is also a skating rink. It is a multipurpose complex--both for spiritual exercises and for physical exercises.
Roanoke Skate Center began in 1986 but closed and sold to a church which occurred in 1991. It is still Turnaround-Roanoke Christian Center. When I looked at their website, I see their address for Georgia. I believe that is the "mother" church location with a skating rink as well. Both have skating rinks I believe.
So far, I know at least 4 churches (as of July 29, 2020) that has skating rink still operational. Praise God for that. It is like a cafe church of sort but is a "Roller Rink Church" And this one fits that title.
On Facebook, their most recent post was March 2020 regarding COVID shutdowns so they are not known yet if they will reopened but I believe their online services is still operational for sermons and Bible Studies. The GA location is open for skating.
Turnaround Christian Skate Center IS still operational and please do check them out! Good clean Christian fellowship and skate!
The Interior.
The Roanoke Skate Center was different appearance but I am not sure what because of Turnaround-Roanoke Christian Center made their rink more cleaned up look. The pulpit is in the corner by the edge of the rink. It has purple trim along with Dark Gray and Black. Sound familiar. Like I said about the fitness center national chain, they have similar colors. The Graying of America. Gray this or that. Mostly Red for chain restaurants and department stores but the main color is Gray.
Never mind that because it is a beautiful interior with theme of Wood walls, Gray walls, but the rink itself is Light Purple! Concrete floor.
It is not that large rink though. I am sure during service days including Sunday Mornings and Wednesday evenngs, they take out the chairs for their members to sit to hear God's words but on other days, all chairs put away to allow the rink to be used for roller skating. It has very limited disco lights.
The Exterior.
It is a very simple Gable building. Two sections. One smaller with a lot of Black Windows which was common in 1970s to 1990s. Of course, the building is Gray colored. This is for the Turnaround Christian Center. No windows for the rink section.
The grounds looks lower than the main street and next door. Flood concerns? I pray not.
