Riverview Roller Rink / Morey's Riverview Roller Rink 48 N Broadway, Pennsville, NJ. One of the weirdest mascot I ever seen! A mosquito as a mascot? Very uncanny character. Has that Art Nouveau style art work. Yuck! Are you glad you have Roller Roo now? Better? Courtesy of Facebook / Private.

Riverview Roller Rink / Morey's Riverview Roller Rink 48 N Broadway, Pennsville, NJ. This was when the rink was new. It was the first wedding event on this specific rink. Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hartman! The wedding occurred in 1935. Courtesy of Facebook Group.
Riverview Roller Rink / Morey's Riverview Roller Rink 48 N Broadway, Pennsville, NJ. Said to be taken in 1935, the same year the place was converted to roller rink. This was one of the dancing sessions. Yes, you are seeing one of the earliest Mirror Ball! Yes I see couples but I also see females dancing together. This has been around long time that they do that if there are no male suitors to ask them to dance. The tiny windows up there are vents. They had bigger windows (see the photo with the model). This was part of the Riverview Beach Park, a Ferry Park that opened in 1891 but closed in 1967 when the ferry service. Since I have the date of the rink opened in 1935, which was after the dance hall opened earlier (as early as 1891). The closing is unknown however, it may be 1967. We are not sure.
Likely the rink opened as Riverview Roller Rink first then Morey's was added because likely that competitive Amusement Park, Morey's Pier bought out. Maybe. I do not have information. I need more information.
Likely it was opened in early to mid- 1930s thanks to a photo of a wedding in 1935. Nothing much happening after 1955. More information would be appreciated it.
The park itself closed in 1967 because they stopped serving ferries to the park this late! Most Trolley Parks were shuttered or converted by 1930s. A few had Ferries for some of their amusement parks. They were classified as Ferry Parks. But this survived longer WITH ferries shuttle to the park that late in 20th Century. (A few Trolley Parks still remains but no trollies such as Seabreeze in Rochester, NY and Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York).
UPDATE! - 26 July 2023.
I received one confirmation from a skater who remembered and she has pictures on FB I asked and she said it was opened in 1935. That matched to the wedding featured in the papers as you can see above. She said she is even waiting for the local historical museum to explain and I am waiting too.
So, for now, we are focusing on 1935 as opening date.
So, it opened in 1935. More information will be coming along as well as the Playland/Ocean City Rink. A little difficult I see for New Jersey!
The Interior.
Riverview Roller Rink: Some photos showed it had wood floor. Likely Maple. However, one photo showed it has Straight layout. A common format in early 20th Century. Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
