SKATES in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Beautiful Log Cabin layout of non-painted hardwood Maple floor with awesome colorful walls and all. I do not have any photos of old rink brands but the modern SKATES. Sources: SKATES (Yelp, Trip Advisor, and Facebook).

This rink, Rinky Dink was at 401 East Broadway Street. # B, Sand Springs, Oklahoma. So was Sand Springs Skating Center. Currently SKATES, a modern looking rink at this location.
But it was in 1987, it was registered on August 27 by Larry D. Eades who operated the rink. I do not know the closing date though. It may have become Sand Springs Skating Center. Or it may have been other way around. But currently SKATES as I said.
The current owners.. I do not know.
By the way, SKATES have an official name called SKATES Roller Skating Entertainment Center.
The Interior.
It has beautiful non-paint, Polyurethane coated Hardwood Maple floor. The walls color presently reminds you of Miami, Florida colors of White, Orange, and Teal. Both the Dolphins and 'Canes teams have them. But this is in Oklahoma and strangely the name of the town is Sand Springs which would make more sense to be in South Florida than in the middle of Midwest.
They changed a little. They painted Orange over White, Neon Green over Orange and Teal Black. or was it other way around?
But they did change from Orange wall above area such as Skate Rental, etc. into aluminum sheets and neon lights.
They have very spacious eating area that they provide for skaters to eat.
My favorite parts of this place is the snack bar before they covered up more and all. The snack bar I like without TV monitors showing menu ON the colorful light boxes. Yuck. I like it without it. I like i behind so that when a person stands at the counter, they can look at the menu and tell the employee what you want. If they placed on the light box, its harder and too high especially for the little ones! It is height challenge here. I prefer the old fashioned although it did needed to be lightened up for the menu on the old wall where it used to be. I liked it when they were more opened than covered up making it smaller. No, needed to return to the way it was because openness is important.
I love the space there for the eating area though.
I still love the old way with those light boxes. Really good at attracting skaters to spend money at food and drinks. They could have done it for the rest of the facility like the rental, etc. But they are turning to Aluminum format.
I would still love to see the old look before they renovated into SKATES. I can tell one thing is old-- the iron rails with decorative design on it. Very 1970s or even before that. It is between snack bar and eating area.
The Exterior.
Free-Span Steel Trusses Special designed Cinderblock-Walled Convention Center - like Building. Of course, with Gable roof. It has a very unique design for Cinderblocks. It is not like any other plain design but special designed. I love the look of the cinderblocks because it is rare and unique that I never seen. It appeared to be built in 1960s because of the stone by the front door as you can see in the picture above matches to a bank building 2 building down from the rink. They all are addressed the same address so apparently this developer built this build in cells format shopping plaza. Was it a rink even before Rinky Dink began in 1987? Was it Sand Springs Skating Center there before that or even another rink name I do not know? Or was it a store or something there before it became a rink? Anyone? I really need dates of those rinks!
