A former rink 829 S. C St., Broken Bow, NE
Not a whole lot about this unnamed rink but was found in an article. Many businesses come and go including a roller rink says this article found in Lexington Clipper-Herald newspaper article.
It is a two-story the Pazderka Building where the rink was. Now upstairs are apartments and retail stores on ground level. It was Built in 1887 by the Broken Bow lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. After that, many businesses come and go such as an undertaker, furniture store, several entertainment venues such as a movie house, a roller-skating rink, a bowling alley, and an archery range, as well as a dance hall. Also an auction house and an electricity company.
Along with Odd Fellows meetings, there were also meetings for local group of the Ku Klux Klan.
Sure did have some dark history to this building at one time.
The Interior.
I have no idea what the rink was like or any other entertainment venues (which also are qualified as dead entertainment venues).
The Exterior.
Two story Dark Red Brick building that housed meetings, and other venues including skating rink. The updated current version was painted over with Tuscany Pink or Salmon. The first floor looked taller than the second floor thanks to the original misplaced line that looked jazzed off. New version really fixed up and clean plus added balconies to make it look more Tuscany-isque.
This means the rink was on ground floor. Likely on the side, there were three arched windows but all bricked over. Perhaps they had those in use way back then. The building did look Italian even before the exterior makeover.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A Floor: Likely Maple. Floor Layout: N/A
Building Size: N/A Built: 1887 Demolished: Renovated many times.
Type of Building: Red Brick Storefront Building.
