Rinard's Roller Rink Bland's Park, Route 220, Bland Park, PA
Rinard's Roller Rink Bland's Park, Route 220, Bland Park, Pennyslvania was around during the time before the amusement park is now DelGrosso's Park.
DelGrosso's was originally named Bland's Park, named after the Blands' Family Farm in Tipton where in 1907 the Rinard Brothers established the park by bringing their carnival to the farm.
12 years later, Fred Bland opened the small park, including only a picnic grove and a small dance floor.
During the Roaring 1920's, the park had a lot of patrons, having coming from the races at the Altoona-Tipton Speedway just up the road.
In 1928, the Bland Family sold the park to George Rinard, who then expanded the park and installed more rides and built a roller skating rink and a bowling alley. However, the park needed repairs during the Great Depression.
By 1946, the park only had a few picnic shelters when Altoona railroader and a cafe owner, Fred DelGrosso, purchased the property and rebuilding the park. The DelGrosso couple sold the café to focus on the amusement park.
The following ten years the park was expanded annually. The original name, Bland's Park remained for the next 54 years as the DelGrosso Family managed the park.
On 1 November 2000, Bland's Park was renamed DelGrosso's Amusement Park. They updated the name to reflex to their ownership for more than half century.
The park is still operating as you read this.
And as for the roller rink, nothing more mentioned about it. It quietly disappeared.
And if the name DelGrosso sounds familiar, that might be because the DelGrosso family is also the owner and founder of DelGrosso Foods, Inc. which produces and distributes spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, pizza sauce, and other Italian items. Ohh, suono delizioso!

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
