Top two photos courtesy of GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN-Facebook. As Red Hill Picture Pops Theatre. Likely taken in 1920s due to automobile and style of black-and-white photos.
Photos courtesy of Matthew Marsland. Taken after the fire. LIkely taken between 2002 and 2017. More likely in 2010 to 2017ish because of the moss and grass growing on ground. And the Sky Blue background. Compare to the remodeled and reopened as theater. Just a very few art work are preserved. You will noticed on the right of the photos (right of the skate).

Red Hill Skate Arena, 2-14 Enoggera Terrace, Red Hill, Brisbane, Queensland
This skating rink was operating for a while. Originally as Red Hill Picture Pops Theatre after it was built in 1920. It was a tall deep gable brick built building with large flat roofed front. In an old photograph from its day showed painted sign of the name of the theater. It was stylish theater of its day.
But in the year 1964, it became a music non-alcoholic lounge known as Teen City which only lasted a year. Quickly, in a year, it became the Red Hill Skate Arena. The rink lasted longer than the Teen City night club for teenagers. Unfortunately on Boxing Day which is usually December 26, the day after Christmas in 2002, they had a huge fire damaging pretty much interior and the roof which has destroyed pretty much inside and the truss and the roof as well as upper wooden walls. The original ceiling had Quonset hut style. It was a twenty-three-year-old John Cameron Wright who was charged with arson, break-and-enter and stealing the very next day. However, the brick walls were well preserved after the fire. It damaged pretty much which forced to close the rink.
It did found another life from 2002 to 2018 as a haven for graffiti wise guys painted graffiti on walls both interior and exterior. At first you will see in photos that it looked horrible but many of the works were redone and looked a lot better. It would have to become a graffiti museum! It sort it is because March 2019, after they rebuilt the upper wooden walls and roof with new metal truss, they built a new facility with the name of the rink but as a theater once again. a twist of everything. This is a must see because it is now a well preserved graffiti "museum" with a skating rink name and perhaps skating floor with a movie screen which would become a movie theater. A well coordinated effort by the current owners. I would recommend Skaters to check this out and enjoy a movie to watch! But you can see the exterior with those art while sitting at the same owner's eating establishment- a restaurant next door which is a winery.
This is a beautiful effort and well balance of everything. A movie tavern of sort with skating rink and restaurant cross the street. And a winery restaurant next door. I would give this whole thing without being there a 4 out of 5 stars for excellent balance of everything although I am not crazy about graffiti although those art really nailed it. Unlike those you seen on trains or hidden places or abandoned buildings.
This is about the original rink, not the modern one of same name at same place although it is recorded here below.
