All above and the sign below are courtesy of Google Map. Noticed the rink was quite in middle of field. Not closer to the road. Hmm. I wonder why and it was kind of far off from the town. Baseball fields were still quite a walk and tiring by time you reach the rink if you decided to skate. Hmm.. Was it location that hurt the rink?
Website and poster courtesy of Razor City Skateland. It is gone. Closed. Done. Out of business. The closing announcement was kind of.. wooden. It is more sad without any explanation.
Razor City Skateland 885 Hannum Rd., Gillette, Wyoming
It is named after the famed razor blades company and founder. Hence the name of the town is none other than Gillette. So, the skate owners may have thought of this idea to name it Razor City Skateland. Makes sense.
Good thing it is not named as "Razor Blades Skateland" because that would be more of ice skating, haha.
They still have the website up but anything else on it is totally empty and I am unable to retrive any thing on their website such as photos and information regarding their opening and when they closed. But I am able to capture this before the site is gone. See photo gallery above.
The home page is quite self explaintory that they are permanently closed. then I clicked contact us and they do have a page on that but I doubt you would get a response. The third page-- Pre-register all night event showed a poster there an advertisement for New Year's Eve. But which New Year's?
I clicked on Pre-register, it opened up to another page relating to the same event and same poster. However, I looked at copyrighted. It says 2020. So, is that right they close THIS year (This profile written on February 09, 2020)? If that was the case, they actually closed on January 1, 2020. A rink I just barely missed to know they were going out of business. There are no articles online!
Google Map did not go on this back road to get closer to the rink, unfortunately. So what I have is what I have. It showed red barn like sitting out in middle of fields upon this small hill which makes it pretty hideous from the road. See top view for location as well.
Facebook page showed just a cartoon skating character. No other photos, none. Clearly they must have removed everything! Quite sad.
D and B website showed it was opened in 1995. Apparently only ran for less than 5 years.
