Photo courtesy of Ohio Memory/K.M. who provided me this photo. Very clean design for 1960s. Gable roofed, Red Bricks, White stucco wall with the name of the rink very large and clear for drivers and passengers to see when driving by. Nice landscaping on the left in the photo but not too thrilled with the messed up parking lot posts. Apparently the frost in the ground plus cars may have hit it listed the posts. The sign appeared to be empty. Not clear. I checked more of same photo and all gave same results. Appeared empty. Uh oh, did someone left the wagon's rear door open? I am sure the car owner did that on purpose as it was common back the day you could leave your doors, windows open, even unlocked. Those were the good days of better Moralism in America.

Rainbow Acres Roller Rink 4440 Secor Road, Toledo, Ohio was once a rink before it became a Toledo Elks Lodge at one time before currently a day care center.
What made this place more interesting to read about is not what you want to read about. When they went out of business in 1969, it became child care center then sometime later, it became a lodge clubhouse and one night, some thieves went to the roof of the former rink and cut open the roof to break in so they could break in the vault and steal money and maybe other valuables according to this book - "Sylvania, Lucas County, Ohio: From Footpaths to Expressways and Beyond ..." By Gayleen Gindy.
The Elks Lodge was housed at this former rink in 1980 according to some records as stated in the book by Gayleen Gindy.
Likely the lodge occupied throughout the 70s because they needed a new place as stated in 1979. Read the link for more details.
Here I am focusing on the rink itself. Rainbow Acres was quite different back then on its appearance than what the Day care center has on Google Map. Of course, the latter expanded the building and heavily renovated.
It was Sallyann Ankney and her husband, Charles E. Kissling founded this wonderful rink.
The owners, David L. Summers, Margaret A. Plunkett and Richard H Conn were the ones operated Rainbow. They ran the rink twice. From 1964 to 1970 and 1973 to 1979 as a rebooted rink of same name. This is according to Open Corporate.
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
Gabled roof, Free-Span Steel Truss Cinder-block and Brick -Walled Church - like Building. Old photo does show it looked that way. Black and White photo so likely the bricks itself was Red and part of that wall in White with the name of the rink on the front wall center.
I love this 1960s architectural look. Very clean design with simplify look of its time. And even had that raised landscape on the left side of the front entrance you are seeing in the photo or for some who have been there, seen this. The large sign with its name is excellent and best than any I ever seen in my career of record keeping all Dead Rinks globally. Very large. Very easy to see. Rarely seen this way too are churches with large signs on the wall but of course some of them have large Cross on them instead of name to show people what place that is about. It is also not far from the road either which makes it really an impact. One of the best.
The downside that it only ran for 6 years. From 1964 to 1970.
Of course, the latter expanded the building and heavily renovated.
