Playarena Roller Rink Cedar at State Rd., Croydon, PA
Playarena Roller Rink Cedar at State Road at Croydon, Pennsylvania was a small roller rink on the corner. It was operational from 1945 to 1960 according to a forum, Delphia Forum.
The owner and operator was Warren C. Worthington. He founded the rink after he was in Croydon in 1945 and operated the Playarama Skating Rink from 1945 to 1960. Later, Bob Saba owned the rink after Warren sold the rink to him.
Tags Archery shop was right behind it and on the side. If I am seeing on Google Map, The archery shop would not be behind and not on the side. Because the building where the rink was would be behind the 2 story storefront. The extension of that building was architecturally different than the State Street frontage compared to the Cedar Street side.
I believe the skating rink was on Cedar side, not State Street unless I am looking at the wrong building. Nope. USGS goes back to 1940 for this corner. It is the same building that goes far back! That building still stands. You can take a look at it but nothing you can do. It is currently a carpet store taking over the former roller rink.
The Interior.
Sounds and said to be wood floor. This was a small rink.
The Exterior.
The skating rink was just behind the two story Brick store front building with the skating rink behind. The admission likely was on the side. That section where the rink was, is a Cinderblock walled building with likely Free-Span Steel Trusses, Gabled roof.
