Palomar Skating Rink, South 27th Street, Milwaukee, WI
Palomar Skating Rink, South 27th Street, Milwaukee, WI was once a rink back in the Twentieth Century.
This rink was much talked about at a website about Milwaukee and people remembered growing up doing things such as skating at the Palomar Skating Rink that was on South 27th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was in a comment section. Several people talked about this certain rink. Sounded like 1940s to 1960s. I am not sure when or what happened to that rink.
There was another rink someone said he was born in 1919! That was a hundred years ago! There is no date on comment section mentioned this rink at North Avenue on the east bank of the Milwaukee River.
There is an Encyclopedia of Milwaukee that explained every recreation that was in that city. Swimming pools, gyms, ice and of course, roller rinks. Please click that link and read for yourself. Very good summery of information regarding teen recreation in 1800s and 1900s in Milwaukee.
Palomar was opened in 1939 in the eve of World War II and survived through the War, post-war years including late 1940s and Fabulous 50s. No date of closure though. Could have made it for another 20 years because skating was on rise in 1960s because of the Disco Era. This rink had organ music of course.
They averaged 700 to 900 skaters a day to attend this rink during its height in 1940s and 1950s.
