This rink was one of the Couey Family owned at least it was with Skating Clubs of America, Olympia Roller Rink. But not with Sparkles and Sparkles Roller Rinks although the Couey Families owned and still own Sparkles at other locations.
From what I figure out when they first started, it was Skating Clubs of America when Glen Couey started on February 28, 1961. By the look of that building, likely it was built that year. Then Albert Couey took over and renamed as Olympia Roller Rinks of America. That was October 15, 1981.
Then in April 10, 1992, a different individual took over and renamed it as Sparkles of Marietta. His name is Dana Gazaway. But in January 22, 1998, Glen Couey took over once again. Then in Julie Couey took over in year 2000 in the month of February on the day of 22nd. Sparkles of Marietta closed for good and filed to close on May 16, 2008
They kept changing hands or reshirting their business names (In NYS, it is illegal to redress or reshirt a business if same owner in order to avoid taxes or to regain grants from local government).
Apparently the roller rink closed in or before 2012 because the Slapshot Sports Federation opened their ice rink for their hockey team. That too was short lived. They folded in between 2016 and 2018 according to Google Map. I feel bad for the Atlanta Knights because they even have two nice long distance tourist buses with basement luggage area on the bus with bathrooms of course.

The Exterior.
Besides it is now ice rink, the building structure remains the same ever since 1961. it is pretty hidden in that neigbhorhood sandwiched between a large shopping plaza and a large Goodwill Donation thrift store. It takes a bit of sleuth for you to reach your destination and I believe it was not that great of a location for such a rink because people would not be able to find it. The same result happened with the ice rink. I think it is still there (for ice rink but not for The Slapshot Sports Foundation). You just have to drive straight to the rink building which was a modernism looking building. The exterior walls are Steel sheet metal. For a time, they had Red Bricks on the wall but the shopping plaza management or owner wanted to renovate and get rid of the red bricks. They added the Gray walls instead. Terrible they changed because I love the brick and stone look they had from 1990s. It still refreshing when I stroll the Google Map through the plaza. I like the old version better. Looks more classy and look more rich than boring Gray now.
