Google Map. Top view. I could not get the street level photograph at all. Not even on their Facebook. They had no photograph!
Bristol's Skating Rink 726 N Thayer Ave, Aberdeen, MS
New Image Skate & Entertainment Center 726 N Thayer Ave, Aberdeen, MS
New Image Skate & Entertainment Center 726 N Thayer Ave, Aberdeen, MS
The location was as old as 1972 and likely it was Bristol's Skating Rink before the New Image Skate and Entertainment Center was there at 726 North Thayer Avenue, Aberdeen, Mississippi. New Image Skate and Entertainment Center was there since 1998. There might have been another name before 1998 but I do not have any evidence of that at the moment except for the name from one of the list.
As for New Image, it was a female owned and operated business at a cute location tucked at the end of North Thayer Avenue in Aberdeen, MS. This street is also short and small backroad-like with just a very few houses in between a regular road and the end of this road.
I love backroads. But this is just a dead end road that looked more like it is street but it is not. I could not get street level view on Google Map because that is a dead-end road they decided not to drive down. Silly Google Map!
While I was searching, and sorry for going off subject, there is a really neat high school complex and huge property actually with so much green grass fields.. the buildings at the high school are almost all hexagon shaped. And the main building is the largest but it was truly rounded, not like the rest of the buildings. That was a Mid-Century Modernism. Not quite as Googie.
If you check it out, go on street level. Oh wow, beautiful area.
Now back to the rink... I know it is hard to talk about when you do not have photos on the outside.
The Interior.
Judging from this photo, not that great to tell what floor but I would say it is concrete. Narrow long rink. And small as well. Clearly from the size of the building at 11,861 SF. The walls appeared to be dark. One end looked as if it was Ptich Black and the side of rink which is really the back wall in Dark Blood Red. I am not sure. Anyone know more about this rink?
The Exterior.
Likely it was all steel walled and roof by the look of it. hard to tell the walls really because I only can see the top part.
An exterior photograph is needed! Anyone has a photograph?
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Appeared to be natural Concrete color--no paint and maybe a poly coated.
